parley view parsnip.....

parley view parsnip..... by angryparsnip
parley view parsnip....., a photo by angryparsnip on Flickr.

This week and especially Sunday was a cornucopia filled with wild
animals around my home !

Last Tuesday when it was 113 in Tucson it was so hot that even the
little Hummingbirds took refuge in my small fountain that is cut into
one of my walls in my back yard.
The little one on the tail of the fish stayed there all afternoon.
The other one coming in for a landing sat on the edge with the water
bubbling over the tiny little feet !

As I sit in my studio and look out the window I saw Sunday afternoon a
Coyote loping by, the usual Quail Families with new babies, Bunnies
galore, Cardinals, Doves, Humming Birds, Lizards, Squirrels and a
Coopers Hawk looking for lunch which he caught it right above my head
as I was sitting outside. And Oswald ! ! !

The way my blog is set up I can only have one photo with each post
( this will change when Japanese Son visits next month and can show me
how to change my blog ) so please click on the next two posts to find
out who Oswald is ?

  1. Your garden and its water supply must be like an oasis to all those creatures. How amazing to have hummingbirds visiting your water fountain!

  2. Glad you explained the fish was part of the fountain. For the briefest of seconds I thought it was another one of your unusual creatures!

  3. I use picassa - check it out - then there's live writer - something to play with xxxx Nice to be back!

  4. Hummingbirds, of course, are really territorial...

  5. All birds are territorial. At least all of the birds I know....

  6. Dartford Warbler...
I have been watering a little outside of my home and small yard to help when we are so hot. I try not to upset nature too much but a little water on some plants helps the plants and the wild things that live there.

Well we do have the Sand Trout of the Gila River I wrote about last year.......

Japanese son mentioned picassa, we shall see when he gets here.
Glad your back ! are the chickens happy, doggies too ?

Yes I know Hummingbirds are very territorial but when it was that hot any watery shade makes friends for a day. That first day of 113 was so hot the air hurt in the afternoon even when my home is somewhat cooler in the foothills.

Yes I think they can be but when I sit outside in the mornings and evenings I see so many different types of birds flying all around the valley. And the Quail seem to be friends with everyone.

  7. So many great photos and posts today. Happy 4th!

  8. @mrsnesbitt

Live writer is a Windows only program, although there are Mac equliviants I've never found them to be that user friendly. Using Picasa to directly post to blogger might be the best option.

  9. I don't think I would ever get any work done if I lived there. Too much to watch.
BTW I use Picasa and now can publish 8 or 10 at a time but I can't copy and paste from Word onto the photo page - I have to write it straight onto Dashboard.

  10. wow, wow, wow! we've been hot here, but nothing like arizona, sugar! xoxoxoxo

  11. Oh no savannah, I wanted to Wow! too. Hummingbirds! Exotica city!
And I love Oswald. A King snake. That's mighty.

  12. 113!?!?! O my goodness.
Hopefully, the hummingbirds enjoyed the fountain :)
