2013... Year of The Snake !

update !
this is my second try at posting this blog
blogger keeps deleting the photos so we shall see if it works this time !

Goodbye Dragon enter the Snake !

In Japan everyone and I mean everyone sends New Year wishes out in the form of a postcard.
This is my very late postcard that will be mailed out on Tuesday. Very very late !

The back of the postcard. I put some years in, are you a Snake ?

Last years Ozouni : Mochi soup for the New Year,
made by talented daughter.

One of my New Year Day cards complete with explanation of all the lucky symbols.

Since it is New Years Eve. . .

The Square Ones want to remind you of what happens when you have too much fun
with too many bubbles.

Here is your pretty to start the week of the New Year

Moon rise over Thimble Peak.
This was taken through my studio window so you can see some reflection
but I like the double moon.

Happy New Year !
Be safe, warm and may we all be hopeful.

The post office handles mass amount of cards that are delivered on New Years Day.

Christmas Morning, 25 December, 2012
Just in time for New Years celebrations...
The Square Ones show how to correctly open a bottle of Champagne.

This could be one reason why toys never last long in our home.

Extra Blog Day... mittens !

I usually only blog three days a week.
But I just wanted to post about a fun gift I bought for daughter.
Ackkkk !
Oh No I Got Mittens For Christmas !

These are called "Predator vs Prey

I liked the Whale vs Fish

awwwwww...
just right for the "cold" mornings Tucson gets.

I found these on Fab.com.
This is a site that has amazing and some weird stuff but what a hoot.
I think (?) they get a certain amount of goods sell them at sale prices and when it is gone it is gone. No returns !
I went to the "Vs mittens "  home site and found several really fun mittens from
Owl vs Mouse to Wolf vs Sheep.
They are soft, warm, really cute and fun !

This is not a paid annocement just something I found and thought was cute.

Christmas Card...

This year was the 4th day of Christmas in the series I am doing of
The Arizona Twelve Days of Christmas

This year it was, a red fox walks through four mesquite trees

My origami tree

the birds are folded my my daughter.

I have a small snow globe collection that I put out every year.
The black bird to the left is one of daughters books.
When you lift the wing there is a wordless map book of the birds travels !

Some years I buy a snow globe some years I don't find one I like.

Two Japanese styled wrapped gifts by the door for friends.

I know these next few days everyone will be extra busy
but I want to wish you all a wonderful
Christmas Holiday !

Square Dog Friday.... Snow ?

Well, it is Friday already and Two Little Square Black Dogs
are very happy and ready to zoom.
So lets woof it....

What is this ?  snow, ice or maybe frost ?
Doesn't this look like a snowy hillside ?
Hey... William keep your windows and doors closed.
You letting out all the frigid Arctic air again.
This is Tucson, Arizona not Canada !

but it is really just some frost from a very cold night on my rain soaked chaise
It was melting by the time I took this photo.

Bigfoot or some Square Dog prints in the snow errr frost.

Watson loves to eat ice. Here he is licking the frost off a pillow
that was blown off the chaise last night.

Frost on the grass with a bogivilla petal

Wednesday In Tucson.... Japanese Christmas Cards

I save Christmas Cards my Japanese family sends me and set them out every year.
Beautiful, clever, funny, pop-up and usually musical they are wonderful.

I set them out on the buffet in the dinning/living room every year.

Instant decorations so festive

and very easy way to get in the Christmas spirit.

I have shown this one before, Santa and woodland animals are standing in front of a Christmas tree. It is my favorite, a very sweet and darling card.
The blue lights twinkle as they travel down the tree. Push the button on the bottom right and the card plays three Christmas songs in a row.

The lights in the tree blink and the Santas twirl. This card plays 12 songs.
My son wrote,
"be thankful you don't have a crazy kid around to press the play button non-stop like me !

This one has several pop out layers of Osaka there are 75 tiny Santas running around.

Among the Japanese cards I have several cards drawn by my wonderful daughter,
a few artist friends and tucked in here and there is one from
Titus and Pat my UK connection.

I love Christmas Cards !
