parley view parsnip... haiku

My Monday post about what is going on around my home.

The monsoon storms have been beautiful while delivering much needed rain.
But they can also be very destructive.
The summer monsoons are like that.
Unpredictable.

Here are a few of my summer haiku

morning clouds appear
the air is filled with promise
hint of rain to come

saguaros in bloom
the wildflowers are now gone
summer monsoon come

clouds chase the moon
earth and the sun move silently
moon embracing sun

dragons in the clouds
white rabbit lives in the moon
run run run away hide

evening clouds appear
the air is filled with promise
quail escapes the hawk

haiku. . . parsnip
music. . . The Sheltering Sky, Ryuichi Sakamoto

side note
the dragon in the sky haiku in Japanese is

kumo no tatsu
tsuki kara negero
shirousagi

when you translate it reads

dragon of the clouds
from the moon escapes
white rabbit

I like this translation better than my haiku
but it then becomes not a haiku.
I would like to re-work it
but it was what I felt at the moment so I will let it be.

monsoon madness... square dog sunset

Monday evening after the rain...

As the sun was starting to set
I tried to take a few photos of the fast moving clouds.

My little point and click was freaking out over all the colors.
I didn't play with any of the colors
and these are pretty close to what the sky looked like.

The sun was setting west and this is looking north.

If you look close at the bottom clouds, can you see a square dog running so fast
he is leaving a train of dust behind him ?

running fast into the sunset

and he is gone...

parley view parsnip... monsoon

My Monday post about what is going on around my home in Tucson, Arizona
Monsoon Sunday
Flash flood warning everywhere, storm clouds rolling in, thunder, lighting
and the air overflowing with ozone, dust and sage.

The storm starts

the rain starting at the north east

circulating around the valley

heading south west

I swear this looks like the cloud formation the aliens hide in at the start of
the movie Independence Day

ending in the south west.

Rain on my south facing kitchen window

storm passing over my home and heading north.

The clouds are starting to clear.

Here is your pretty to start the week...

More of the Texas Rangers that are blooming all over Tucson in July.

My friends home down the street

and some in front of my home.
