Monday morning in Tucson

Monday morning in Tucson, originally uploaded by angryparsnip.

I am starting a Monday post.
Every Monday I am going to post on something that is happening at my
home. I first thought
of taking the same photo of the Catalina Mountains to see how it
changes weekly but best laid plans will go amuck

My Javelina herd just happened to mosey by and I changed directions.
So it will be "Monday in Tucson" I think ? I have
a whole week to come up with a better name.

I am somewhat sad that the herd is so small. I am thinking this might
be a new smaller herd ?
It is hard for all the wild animals who live around us. We humans
impose our unthinking selves on land that belonged
to them first. I try to not disturb my property to much, I have left
most of it wild except for the small part my home is on.
And I have be blessed to be able to watch all the different wildlife
who I get to share the land with.

watching. . . parsnip
music. . . Made To Run, Blue Merle

  1. Oh wow! How I envy you having that in your back garden - and is that an orange on your tree? So very different from here. Lovely idea to post every Monday morning - I look forward to it.

  2. You are so lucky to have your own javelina herd. I think they are the most interesting wild animals. We saw some last year at the Desert Museum but it would be wonderful to have them in your back yard.

I like your Monday in Tucson idea and I look forward to finding out more about your home base. Your yard looks lovely with that orange tree and the lights.

I also have a Coopers Hawk that has been munching his way through my rodent problem ! I hope to post more of the wildlife that visit me.

That is what is left of my citrus. That cold snap (coldest it has been in 100 years) we had damaged all of the citrus trees in Tucson. I lost all my Grapefruit, Lemons, Oranges but I still have a few Tangelos that are still good. Who knew ?
which is what you see in the photo. I will be picking all the fruit off the trees this week.
The Tree Doctors will be here in March to look at the damage, prune and feed.

I love my herd and being born in the Year of the Boar they are my people !
The Orange Tree is looking really bad because of the cold snap, I am thinking that might be next Mondays post.

    Carole...
Thanks and I hope there is nothing but Good News and Happy Valentines at your home !

  5. Javelinas are so cool, and to think I'd never heard of them till I met you. Love the idea of a regular Monday view of Parsnip paradise.

  6. Your world looks very exotic and rich. I always thought of Tucson as being dry and flat.

It is quite different in the Sonora Desert. Tucson is called the Valley of the Sun. There are mountains all around Tucson that get snow in the winter and we are very green, even in the summer thanks to the Palo Verde tree, Mesquite tree and all the cactus. In the spring we have a riot of color everywhere, that changes weekly. Fabulous.

  11. As far as he's concerned, the two-legged beings are squatters on his property.
