This was held in the Koshikiiwa Jinja Temple.
One special part of the ceremony (that I love) is when the Shinto Priest chants the babies address so the Gods can be sure to find the baby and give their blessing.
.
Three years later Mia was back at the Temple for her Shichi- Go-San Ceremony.
It is for girls who are 3 and 7 and boys who are 5.
It is a celebration of the growth of their child.
Parents pray for their children's prosperity.
.
Mia's cousin came to her ceremony.
I just adore this photo because it looks like a poster for the New Power Rangers !
Shunji is showing his little boy super air power attack.
While Mia is fooling everyone with her sweet little girl disguise.
.
and shoots out her purse attack, that is filled with happiness.
All the while smiling and looking fabulous
as the Red Ranger.
Go Go Power Rangers !

And just because I can here is your mid-week pretty.
This photo is from two trips ago. Sparkly Mia shoes and her guardian
Watson who never left her side.

Mia is just adorable! You can tell what a lot of personality she has, too, just from this sequence of pictures. YOu must be so proud of her! I too love the picture of her and her power ranger cousin! :) Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha she does have a great personality. She is very animated.
DeleteWhat absolutely glorious photos of Mia Parsnip. My favourite is number 5 - 'lovely hair decorations'.
ReplyDeleteI like them all but the one where her hand is out #7 is a favorite.
DeleteWhat a beautiful tradition! You have an adorable granddaughter, Gayle!
ReplyDeleteI like many of the family type traditions. She is very charming.
DeleteHer parents are always being asked to have her model but she has only done some for a friends business.
Great post Mom! You blog much better than I do. Only one mistake, that's Hiroki. Shunji is much, much bigger now and in kindergarten. Hiroki is a few months younger than Mia.
ReplyDeleteYes, I looked up the correct spelling of Hiroki and then wrote Shunji ? ? ?

He ADORES Mia and is her Guardian. Especially when she was a little one on her first visit. He slept next to her when ever he could.

What a little sweetie she is - that makes three sweeties with those lovely square ones.
ReplyDeleteI love her kimono!
ReplyDeleteMia is super cute in that kimono. A little doll!
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous Mia is!
ReplyDeleteWhat joy our grandchildren bring us. I love the idea of letting the
gods know where the child lives.
Have a happy weekend.
One of the comments on your more recent post mentioned Mia's pictures, so I had to backtrack so I could see them, too. (I'm terribly nosy.) Anyway, I'm glad I did. She is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCute kids:)
