scene of the crime !

scene of the crime !, originally uploaded by angryparsnip.

Sunday I was in the pool exercising and enjoying the late afternoon
quiet. Beautiful !

Out of the conner of my eye I see something moving in the water along
the edge of the pool. I always see thing floating in and out of my
vision ( quite like the Japanese anime series Mushi-Shi ) so I didn't
think too much of it till it started to move towards me. . . bad
knee or not I was out of the pool like a flash, OK a slow flash! and
looking at a 12 inch baby King Snake. A small but scary quite
beautiful deep black snake with white bands. Hello, that got my heart
rate pumping !

I fished it out of the pool and dropped it outside the snake proof
fence that somehow wasn't working so well that day !
King Snakes are non-venomous and in fact eat other snakes. They have
an immunity to venom so good-bye rattlesnakes, Hello my new BFF, King
Snake.

I also have a rather large Black Snake that lives on the west side of
my home. I have named him Oswald. He eats rodents, bugs, lizards,
other snakes and small mammals he also is non-venomous . . thank
goodness he is also slow. I still yelp every time I see a snake BFF
or not !

The Two Little Square Black Dogs were outside enjoying the morning and
sitting by the pool. Watson is sitting by the pool and Hamish is
lounging on the chaise. No snakes in the pool this morning. Thank
goodness !

  1. Good lord, I think I'd have fainted! I once nearly drowned trying to swim as fast as I could away from what turned out to be a figment of my imagination, and had to be rescued.

Ahhhhhh, he/she ? was just a little guy about as round as your little finger and very pretty, I quite like black and white. . . but that doesn't mean I still really want to see them in my pool or the scorpions walking through my home.

"The Boy's " Thank You they think themselves quite charming ( they are ) and I think they are very handsome. People really love them they have that terrier charisma about them. . . you are always just the person they wanted to see, they are so so happy to see you.

  5. Haha! The snake just wanted to have a relaxing slither around the pool. No harm done! Haha! I can't wait to tell that to the people at the bar.

  6. I just wouldn't be able to handle any snake in my life, lol, I am damn scared of them, but it would be nice to borrow one from you so he can eat my pet rodent that lives in my window frame - I have a feeling that the insulation is almost gone, lol. Cool story, thanks for sharing, lol. Anna :)

I am not a big fan of snakes but there were here first ! I try to coexist but really don't want them in my home or yard. They can have all of my other land

    Kanani. . .
It is snake proofing an open iron fence by putting a screen about 2 or 3 feet up from the ground. It keeps them out and they only climb up so far, mostly it is for the baby Rattlers that are really crazy you want to keep those sucker out. . . yikes
