OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !

Tucson had quite a bit of rain and snow.
Everything is blooming in the short spring as Summer heat is coming.
One bad result from this is my Century Plant, Agave plant, is going to bloom and then die.

Living sculpture.

With a very cute iwinnston.

iwinston with his new summer cut.

When I bought this home one of the wonderful things about it was the two Century Plants
in the backyard. You can see one bloomed years later. All the birds and critters love
the seeds and crunchy bits of the plant.  I miss the plant, I understand about
Mother Nature but I don't have to like it.

.

As always here comes your pretty for midweek.

After the "destroyer" ripped the screens apart we put a heavy screen over the
regular screen.  I have been working with Agatha and she has almost figured
out that I will open the door for her without the screen ripping.

This is what happens !

Agatha Tallulah is a hoot !
iwinston just stands and watches.

cheers,  parsnip

  1. Cute dogs and the desert is beautiful. I just got back from a trip to Northern New Mexico and love the beauty of the area.

  2. Hi, Gayle!

Step aside, Scofield & Burrows. Looks like Agatha & Winston are starring in the reboot of Prison Break! :)

I always wanted to own a majestic Agave century plant. It makes a striking landscape feature. I didn't know that a century plant's life span is only 10 to 30 years and that it blooms only once and dies soon after. I read that suckers and shoots form underground from which new plants eventually sprout, but I suppose it takes quite a while for a plant to grow to that magnificent size.

Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Gayle!

    1. I do not like the bloom or the dying of the plant. Mother nature knows better than me.

  4. You have taught me something new, thank you! I did not know that about the century plant. It is amazing how high it reaches. Love seeing Agatha & Winston! Agatha looks sad looking out the door. I hope she learns to not scratch it so much. Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. I haven't heard about century plants. Do they die after they bloom?
Oh, dear, Agatha...!!!! Someone said she looked sad, but I think she looks kind of pleased with herself though....there is a bit of an achievement in making a clear space to look through!

  8. Agatha is looking for you!
We had one or two of those plants and it kept growing and growing until we thought it would never stop. We finally cut it down. With winds and stuff, we didn't know if it was safe. Ours grew impossibly high.

  11. I just had to re-spline the screens on our porch. It used to be the dog, but now it's the grandkids. Stay tuned for hummingbirds flying full tilt into the screens and getting their beaks caught.
