Scotty origami.
Find a Scotty
flatten out the Scotty
fold over center and crease
open up
refold the other side
fold the bottom edge up to the horizontal crease
align with the center crease on both sides
turn over
fold the two top corners down
fold the top down
to meet the bottom side
Lurve this one, just look at the sweet puppy paws.
Fuff up the Scotty.
Give lots of huggles, you are now finish.
Now you can enjoy your Scotty, Good Luck !
....
Here is your pretty for today.
The Prickly Pear are starting to bloom.
Tissue thin petals of beautiful colors on pads with very sharp thorns.
One of my very special Prickly Pear Cactus.
The bloom should be a paler pink with a dark center.
It was stressed out with the construction, packrats, water and strange weather.
I took this photo 2 days ago. Look at all the buds on the top of Prickly Pear pad.
This is what is looks like today.
On the left side of the photo there are over 35 buds ready to bloom.
Tomorrow the red bloom will turn more orange.
I was looking over to the left and notice several bite marks in the pads.
And one with a circle chew in it.

Loved oragami with iwinston...so adorable, I can't believe how much he reminds me of our Vincent...same mussy hair, cute face, adorable "kitty paws"....Lovely photographs !
ReplyDeleteHe need a bath but I usually let the groomers do that for me, so he is very very scruffy.
DeleteHi, Gayle!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Winston loves it when you make Scotty origami and he wishes you would do it all day every day. :) Winston says "just be careful when you fold me not to spindle or mutilate." :)
I envy you, dear friend. You have such a beautiful landscape of cactus and succulent out there, and I think the blooms are stunning. I can't imagine know who, whom or what bit a round hole in your Prickly Pear pad. If I were you, I'd put security gud dug Winston on the case. :)
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Gayle!
He was so funny that morning. He just wakes up ready to go go go ! I like my landscape and yard. Just typical Tucson.
DeleteThe only thing I can think of is one of the many tiny critters we have running around
Tried to comment earlier and Penny decided to scroll with my mouse. Besides the cutie Winston, I read once you can make prickly pear cactus jelly with those buds. Then you couldn't enjoy the flowers, but I wonder what it tastes like. You sure have different plants around those parts. I backed into the point of one of those agaves once.
ReplyDeleteThe Prickly Pear jam, jelly, candy and syrup come from the fruit after the bloom. I have eaten the fruit. It is sweet but the taste is light ? I am starting to use agave syrup instead of sugar. But I do not add sugar to anything but I will try.
ReplyDeleteOh I see. You gave up sugar? How? I think I am a sugarholic.
DeleteI like sugar but do not use it. In my coffee, tea, cereal whatever. America puts too much sugar in everything you buy. But that said I do not bake or make cookies any more. But if I go out to dinner I will have a sweet. I just can not have it in the house because I get tired and will eat anything. Ice Cream !
DeleteThe thing is that with all my health problems I became a diabetic this year. It just popped up. Not happy. I love carbs and fruit. So angry and now I am hungry all the time and want to eat everything. I have never been this bad. All these years of cutting back and not eating what I want has not helped me out.
Have to tell you it helps to not like chocolate very much. But if I see a Lemon Bar I have to have it.
We just have to do our best !
He's a happy Scottie!
ReplyDeleteIn my photo post for yesterday, I took a sideways look at the pattern on one cow- and it looks like the outline of a Scottish terrier.
If you turn it to the left I think so, I thought it looked like France.
DeleteHow I wish my teeth were as shiny and white as iwinston! Beautiful choppers there. Your prickly pear cactus are gorgeous. Would love to see more pics as they continue to bloom. It got to 68 degrees today! I may get to finally put away the snow shovels and boots! X
ReplyDeleteHe has the best teeth. I will post some more photos of the blooms.
DeleteGood new about the snow.
Gayle, I just love the faces Winston makes in those photos!! My dogs make the same crazy faces when they roll around on their backs! :) And those blooming cactus are stunning. I never knew the desert was so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteps......I sent you an email. :)
DeleteI just love our gud dugs, they steal our hearts.
DeleteNeed to make Fiona and Pinky origami! Lol You're so inspiring. Circle cactus eater, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteFiona especially with her long long long legs. She would be a perfect origami
DeleteI like the Scottie origami, can just picture it. I'm in the hospital again, have Afib and low white blood cell count. Doing better, hopefully I'll be home before Friday.
ReplyDeleteI especially love that seventh photo, Gayle. What a smile!
DeleteYou May Not be in the hospital again !
DeleteJust stop it ! I do not like reading this.
I wasn't go to said anything but I hope you get home soon there may be mail for you.
Norma.... Scotties are big smilers, I lurve him.
DeleteAwww Scottie origami is the best! :-) Winston looks so happy and enjoying fun time with you. He is the sweetest gud dug :-)
ReplyDeletePrickly pear blooms are very pretty! I have no idea how someone chewed circle like that. Looking forward to finding out!
I have to see my gardner to see if they know !
DeleteWinston is a huge pain but I know that by age 2 he will be perfect !
It would be hard to tell which end was which with Winston origami, but then I get a glimpse of his beautiful shiny white puppy teeth. He sure smiles a lot. Winston Origami makes him happy.
ReplyDeleteScruff scruffy gud dug.
DeleteHow are you ? and your sweet little baboo ?
I enjoyed the Winston origami, fun :)
ReplyDeleteThe cactus blooms are beautiful as well, such vicious looking plants with such lovely flowers.
Diana
Desert plants are very interesting.
DeleteEven a distressed prickly pear is awfully pretty.
ReplyDeleteI will be posting more photo soon.
DeleteGorgeous photos! There's something about desert blooms that is beyond fascinating for me. For me, I guess, it's symbolic of how out of what we see as starkness comes great beauty. Or something like that. ;~) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe blooms are so delicate and beautiful.
DeleteWinston has such pretty teeth. The flowers are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHe has the best teeth !
DeleteLovely Iwinston, his face is a picture! I love your cactus flowers, and to see your photos of the desert flora, we have nothing like that in this temperate climate. Aren't they gorgeous?
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a tourist in the UK I love the lush gardens people have.
DeleteThank for your very good article! i always enjoy & read the post you are sharing!
