  1. Hi, Gayle!

I love the pictures you take of natural phenomena outside your desert home - so beautiful. Gosh, what happened to Merida? I know from experience with my Toto that those cones drive a recovering animal crazy. I hope the cone comes off soon so that Merida can go back to being a regular catty again.

Winston does an excellent job as an undercover security guard, pretending to be asleep on the lounge chair. I pity the cardboard box that tries to invade his territory. Wait till Winston spots a herd of peccary. He'll go ballistic!

Enjoy your weekend, dear friend Gayle!

  4. Oh, not the cone of shame! Poor Merida. She'll be happy to get it off.

For a serious professional guard dog, Winston does seem to like lounging on the chair.

  6. I'm reading this inside of a supply closet! We're having an active shooter drill at the school. Talk about security!

  9. Merida doesn't look at ALL happy. Poor thing.

Years ago, we saw a dog wearing one of those cones, and our daughter asked why he was wearing it. Before I could respond, one of her brothers said, "He's deaf! It helps him hear..." :)

    Have a super weekend. Cheers!

  11. Poor Merida. She looks seriously pissed off about the cone. Hopefully Winston will follow Oliver's lead and give Merida some space.

    1. She is so upset. She is her own cat and when she wants to be left alone she wants to be alone.

  13. I had a cat who needed one of those cone things once. It got interesting when the bathing instinct took over. Instead of licking his fur, he licked the inside of the cone.

  16. I would feel pretty secure with Winston on the job, however forcing the Cone of Shame upon a kitty is asking for it. Don't turn your back.

Merida only loves my son who adopted the black bonded brother and sister. They are 13 now and live a very good life.

  18. In England the cone goes by the rather grand name of Elizabethan collar, not that dogs and cats could care less, whatever it's called it makes them feel miserable!
Oh, iwatson, what a lovely boy.
