Wednesday In Tucson... storm clouds

The day started out like this...

the storm blew in

lots of fast moving clouds

depositing snow on the mountains

rain in the valley

The next morning

this is what I saw

sun, blue sky and snow.
Lovely
.......................................

Monday evening daughter came over and made a vegan corn and potato chowder.
So good on a snowy, rainy cold evening.
Fabulous !

Daughter cooks vegan at home but out in the world she is a vegetarian.

parley view parsnip... flowers and gud duggies

Yes, I broke down and bought a mixed bouquet of flowers at the grocery store.
I usually have a a vase of flowers on my kitchen counter.
The market near me does not have a good selection. The flower are put together with no idea what goes with what.. everything  mixed together with no understanding of flowers.
But I wanted some flowers so I bought a mixed bouquet and hoped for the best.
I should have know better.

I was not happy but after some of the flower died, I was left with the ones I liked.
I don't know what this flower is but cut down and set in a small glass cup by my kitchen sink
 I think it very pretty.

Winters storm blowing in, snow/rain falling in the foothills.

I think it is snow but it is raining at the house.

Friends dropped by with the most lovely white roses
.....................................

And now for thehamish. After 6 weeks the ears are getting better.
We still have another week of treatment and then we get to cross fingers and hope for the best.

Square Dog Friday... sleepy gud duggies

I can't believe it is Friday already.
What happened to Wednesday ? I completely lost Wednesday !
But for The Two Square Dogs it is always Friday.
Best day of the week.
So lets woof it !

On a rainy day last week I was watching a movie and thehamish wanders in.

 ummmmmmmm pillow gud !

ummmmm im' thinkin' thisssss is better

 awwwwwwwwthis  the bestest pillow ever.
nice tall person who feeds us saying im' tryin' out for the princess and the pea ?
not knowinnn' what thats meanin'
but if its meanin comfy and gud napping place then mum is right

Because of his massive ear infection, we are now starting the sixth week of medicine.
thehamish's ears have not been trimmed and I think at this point
they now have a life of their own and starting their own country, flag to follow.

Last night I started to watch a CD and Watson jumped up on the bed to watch too.
Or he was just wanting some attention ?

The next morning I awoke to this very happy sweet baboo !

Photos from my new phone, I am still learning how to use it.

Wednesday in Japan... Cooking with Dog

.

I was reading comments on a friends blog and one  commentor was taking about how awful having ketchup on eggs was. Only on french fries.
Well after I stopped laughing I thought about all the times  have squirted some ketchup next to my scrambled eggs or had tomato slices instead of potatoes.
Now this is from a person who rarely uses ketchup and I only buy the small bottle that can last a year. Thank you preservatives hahahahahahahahahah ... preservatives they are the glue that is holding me together and keeping me alive !

This got me thinking of a favorite Japanese dish called Omuraisu.  Usually found on children menu but a standby for any Japanese or Korean family.
I have already posted about this favorite quick, tasty and healthy dish but her comment got me thinking.

Lets have Francis give us a cooking lesson.
Cooking With Dog (don't go there) is one of the only cooking show I watch now. Plus I love the way he says onion ! So kawaii !
Omuraisu is a great example of "Yoshoku" Japanese food that originated in the west but has been changed to suit Japanese palettes.
Since this is a cooking show Francis is making a very nice rice filling. Usually it is just leftover rice with maybe a small chop of chicken, ham or for me kimchi and a dollop of ketchup.

In fact I think this might be my dinner tonight so much better than a hamburger and fries !

parley view parsnip... leftovers

I like leftovers.
There are the food kind. The wonderful meal reheated the next day, so much better.
Maybe chopped up and add to a soup, stew, a savory turnover, ramen or a rice bowl.
The leftover scraps of material made into a stuffed toy for a child or gud dug.
Paper scraps torn, cut and glued to make a card to send to family and friends.
Then there is the leftover photos that really don't seem to fill a post by themselves
but put together for leftover post today.

Calendar

This years calendar for family and two friends, who I knew would love to have
The Square Ones all year.
After I sent this off to the printer I though why didn't I write a little story
about each photo ?

January
Watson is the most beautiful dog very friendly and loves everyone.
But he does not like to have his picture taken. Ever !
So it is always very hard for me to get a good photo of him.
One day I was in the pool and as always The Square Ones will lay down and nap.
I was able to get a nice head shot of Watson pool level before he turned his head.

February
The Two Headed Dog Of Tucson
thehamish is very attached to me but his touchstone is Watson.
Poor Watson puts up with a lot from him.
About a month after my move as I was unpacking boxes and putting books away in the library.
I looked down to see Watson trying to nap, in what I think is a too small basket but
The Boys love it.
There was thehamish smooched in, while Watson as always just let him.
I think it took them some time to adjust to the move and thehamish as always needed some extra help.

Is this not the most perfect Calendar for me ?
Wonderful blog friend Elizabeth of several fabulous blogs, was sent this from a friend in the UK.
When she and a friend looked at it they both said The Square Ones.
She sent it to me and I waited and waited and waited and almost two months later in the mailbox after I thought I would never see it.... There it was !
The stamps were not cancled and it was in perfect condition.
Where or where did it go all that time ?

Close up of the Scottie that looks just like thehamish when he has done something naughty
and hopes I will never find out about what he has done.

Today, The Square Ones are in The crate together.
thehamish has been very naughty again
and I think is trying to be as invisible as possible.

I made some quick Japanese pickeled carrots.
Wonderful on salads, sandwitches, chopped on rammen or a rice bowl.

I also threw in a few slices of a pepper.

....................................

And just because I can....
Here is your pretty to start the week

A watercolor and pencil sketch sent as a birthday gift.
I don't know why this photo is so dark ? when I posted it to blogger it was so much brighter.
Will try to post it again.
