Sweet Truffles lost her battle with Cancer Tuesday Morning.
Wonderful Vet came to our home as Daughter made the choice to end Truffles pain.
Truffles had a horrible terrible life till she was adopted by Daughter.
For 8 years Truffles lived the life she should have and with a very waggy tail.
For 8 years Truffles lived the life she should have and with a very waggy tail.
She came to live with me because she was having seizures and daughter
didn't want to leave her alone all day while she was at work.
. . . . .
Ten great things about Truffles.
One: was a great friend to Winston, even though he is a tank.
Two: loved being quiet and enjoying the sun.
Three: had the most beautiful coat.
Golden underneath with Red and black hair on top.
Four: loved her road trips with Daughter.
Five: had the most velvety soft ears.
Five: that beautiful tail never stopped wagging.
Six: even though she was deaf and almost completely blind she loved being outside enjoying the day.
This is my favorite photo !
Seven: loved to sleep with me nesting her beautiful face right under my chin.
Eight: had the most beautiful tiny feet.
Nine: let us dress her up as an Ewok.
Ten: loved her treats.
...
All of this equals = Truffles loved her Mum and her Mum adored her !
They had many great adventures.
.
This is a postcard I sent Daughter after they moved to Marquette
along the Canadian Border.
Truffles reaction the Snow Blizzards and over 6 feet of snow !
After all she was a Desert Gud Dug !
...
I miss seeing three little faces looking up at me. I miss the thundering herd
running to be let outside in the morning, I miss her dancing in circles at dinnertime
I miss everything.
cheers, parsnip, iwinston, agatha tallulah, merida and oliver.

I`m very sorry. She was loved and happy with your family, and you did everything you could for her. She was a grand and good dog.

DeleteThank you so much! Thank you.
DeletePoor, dear Truffles - but how pleasing that her last few years were so happy and she was so loved.
ReplyDeleteI wish it could have been more years.
DeleteMy heart is breaking for you and your daughter today. Such a difficult decision to be made, but now wee Truffles is running free with those other little square black dugs that have gone before her. She landed butter side up and was much loved for the last eight years of her life, that's for sure, and in the end that's what really counts. My most heartfelt sympathy to you all. X
ReplyDeleteWe are missing her so much.
DeleteI saw on John’s blog that Truffles had passed. I know how hard it is as our pets mean the world to us. It will take awhile, but your heart will heal and you will only smile when you think of her. I am so sorry for your pain.
ReplyDeleteStill too many tears.
DeleteI am sorry to read about Truffles. In your pictures of her she always looked so happy to be there with her other gud dog buddies and you. In the picture where she is standing outdoors enjoying feeling the air on her face, and the freshness of being outdoors, I thought it looked like she was taking time to soak it all in so she would always remember the way she was feeling right then.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we all got to know sweet Truffles. Thank you for sharing her with us.
That is my favorite photo of Truffles, it show how much she loved her life.

DeleteGayle, I am heartbroken that Truffles lost her battle. What a gud dug she was and what a wonderful tribute this is. Although seriously ill, she enjoyed her life to the fullest and kept her spirits up. She set an example for all of us to follow. You collected many great pictures of Truffles and you will surely remember her the rest of your life. I will remember her, too.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers to comfort you in your time of grief, dear Gayle.
I loved her ability to just enjoy.
DeleteI am so sorry for your loss. Truffles was a Gud Dug and she was beautiful and happy as well. You and your Daughter gave her a happy and loving life.
ReplyDeleteDaughter gave her a great start to having a wonderful life.
DeleteI am so sorry for your loss, this is a wonderful tribute.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
We are all heartbroken
DeleteIf only every animal needing care and a good home could find themselves with someone like you and your daughter. What a blessed and beautiful thing you've done. My heart goes out to all of you.
ReplyDeleteShe was very easy to love
DeleteTears....I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet Truffles. She had such a wonderful life after being adopted by your daughter and surrounded with care and love. Photo of her enjoying the day outside is one of my favorites, too. How happy she always was. This is a very touching tribute for her. She was really a wonderful dog and I thank you for sharing her stories with us. Sending warm hugs your way.
ReplyDeleteShe was a wonderful gud dug
DeleteI'm so terribly sorry. What a good girl. I'm so glad her last years were full of happiness and love. Take care dear friend.
ReplyDeleteWe are all missing her so much
DeleteI’m so sorry to read this, but there is hopefully some comfort in knowing she was happy with you all. A dear little dog. My sister lost her lab this week. We’re all feeling it.
ReplyDeleteShe was a very gud sweet dug
DeleteSad, sorry, teary, all those things, but also so proud of you both.
ReplyDeleteTo have the courage to call the vet for a home visit, to hold Truffles and gently whisper sweet-nothings of love and waggy tails whilst she gently slips away, that must truly be one of the hardest things things we ever have to do and I have met people who "cannot bear to do it" because it will cause THEM too much pain. Shame on those folk.
True love is when you put aside your own pain and you do the really difficult thing because that is the right thing for your darling four-paws. It is our job to feel stress, not theirs - that's the contract, that should always be the deal. Your Daughter did the most amazing thing giving Truffles her 'Gud dog' life, and you are amazing for being second-mummy when Truffles became ill.
Hugging both of you. xxx
I read a paper about this where the dogs were looking for their family and the vet was heartbroken for the dogs.
DeleteSending you all cyber hugs. What sweet memories and what a wonderful life you both gave her and she gave you. My heart goes out to Daughter who did a wonderful thing by adopting Truffles. I notice you have Two number 5s; it makes sense that 10 wonderful things about Truffles would actually be 11 wonderful things.
ReplyDeleteShe deserved 100 wonderful things.
DeleteI'm so sorry, Gayle. It's such a hard decision to make. Hugs to Daughter. Rest in Peace, Sweet Truffles.
ReplyDeleteWe are keeping busy so we do not cry
DeleteOh the joy they bring and then take away. Loved the photos, she looked so happy.
ReplyDeleteShe was a very happy gud dug even when in pain
DeleteNow I am crying. Poor Truffles. Bless her adorable heart. Bless you too.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard
DeleteThere are few things worse than losing a dog. And that is all I'll say.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard.
DeleteOh Gayle. I'm so, so, so sorry to read about Truffles. Saying sorry, really doesn't do anything but I am thinking of you and what you went through. It's hard to lose these wee little ones, for sure. I know that pain too. It sucks.
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad time.
DeleteSo terrible. Alice and Panda are sure she's meeting Hamish, Watson, and Louie up in heaven.
ReplyDeleteSweet gud dug
DeleteMy eyes hurt from crying and headaches.
DeleteSorry for your family's loss. Seems like such a sweet dog.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry to hear this.
ReplyDeleteThat lovely photo of her enjoying being outside in the sunshine is the image you should keep with you for always. xx
You brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry for your loss. She was as much of a blessing to you as you were to her.
ReplyDelete"It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as loving and generous as they are." [unknown author]

ReplyDeleteI came over to see you from John's blog as you mentioned St. Albans. I live near St. Albans in this country ( UK) and didn't know that there was one in US.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to come at a time when you have lost a beloved member of the family. I know how it feels.
Sending love and hugs to all . xx
