Eclipse

Yesterday was so much fun.
Eclipse in the United States.
Tucson had only a partial eclipse but it didn't matter it was wonderful.
With everything going on in my life I forgot to buy some glasses.
So I made a pinhole camera with two sheets of white paper.
Worked like a charm.
.
 winston is so excited !

Son did not look but pointed his camera up to the sky.
The sun is always so bright in Tucson no one looks up at it.
Or should not.

After I came inside I took a photo of the eclipse on my hand from the skylight.
....

Daughter's friend Steph took these wonderful photos in Michigan.

Local sushi, Total Eclipse of the Heart.

....

As always here is your pretty to start the week.

  1. We watched it on the news it looked amazing. I watched the partial one here many years ago. It was dusk in the afternoon and all the birds stopped singing. Winston is growing. Lovely pic of your grand daughter :o)

  3. We saw it. Collin had to work, but business got so slow once the eclipse started, he and his co-workers went outside to have a look. He had his eclipse glasses with him and was amazed by it--he can't stop talking about it. I watched it with a neighbor in our courtyard--nothing shown on TV matched that image of totality. It was magical!

    1. You were so lucky to have totality, the birds and bugs go quiet and the temp changes.
      It must have been fabulous.

  4. Love your unusual photos. I can understand Mandibles' excitement. I felt the same way.

    Love,

  5. Mia's looking cute!

We also had partial eclipse here, with clear skies. I went out during the peak time and liked the unusual tone of the sky.

  7. What a cutie she is! I'm betting she'd like to meet Winston. No eclipse for us, just rain, we were at the doctors anyway, husband took a tumble and has a cracked rib.

  9. Your granddaughter is beautiful. It looks like she loves to play dress up in her fancy dress. I hope she will get to come and visit you before Winston grows up.

We were on the very edge of total eclipse in the part of Missouri where we live. We had the special glasses and I took a pair of binoculars out to project the eclipse onto surfaces. It was a good thing I had the binoculars, because for some reason I couldn't see a clear image of the sun's edge through the glasses. My husband could see it very clearly. So I don't know what my problem was. It turned out really great though, because I could see all that was going on around us in nature. I would have missed all of that with the blackout glasses. It got dark enough here that all of the street lights and people's porch lights turned on. There was a sudden cooling breeze, all bees and butterflies on my zinnias disappeared, and birds were flying to roost. But the most amazing thing that I never expected to see were some sort of wavy, moving shadows that were cast very vividly onto smooth surfaces and also visible on grassy surfaces. It was almost like one could see the airwaves or light waves moving, casting shadows. That was something I had never seen or even heard of before.

  10. I love the photo of the eclipse on your hand! We had partial eclipse and I was in a car when it happened, but still could see it got darker. The photos by your daughter's friend are lovely, too!
Mia-chan is growing up! She is very pretty in her dress :-)

  11. We are on the edge of the line and the light got very eerie here. I can see why primitive people thought something bad was happening!

Your granddaughter is beautiful! And Winston looks so cute stretched out on the floor!
