Still Christmas. . . and I love it !

Great Christmas for 2 humans and 3 furry cutiepies !
We will have daughter and her friends for New Year and my birthday.

After the divorce we changed our Christmas,
from the big x's family to just a tiny family of four.
So nice and so much more fun.

Now on the day before the 24 we cook and bake. Drive around looking at the lights on
the houses. Just having fun.
Then on the 24th we cook Christmas Dinner sit down and enjoy a nice relaxing dinner.
Now we have dinner ready for a quick warm up for the 25th.

When daughter, partner and her Mom were here we would have Brunch on Christmas Morning.  Deviled eggs, tiny egg sandwiches, fruit, bread, prosciutto,  ham, pickles, olives, chutney, sweet rolls, prosecco and fruit, We would eat our way through gift opening.
It is just a great way to spend time with family and who ever is here.
Easy and fun. Leftovers are great.
Son and I did the same thing but much smaller.
Brunch was an egg, hashbrowns, cheese and sausage casserole that you make
the night before and then just bake. Fabulous and so easy !
We ate, opened gift and played with thehamish, Merida and Oliver.

Our Christmas dinner was Duck Breast, Grilled Salad and Mashed potatoes.
It was so tasty and as you can see someone wanted some Duck.

I had to lighten up the photos so you can see Merida's face.
This photo just cracks me up. The look on her face is so amazing.

.....

I sat on the sofa looking up through the high windows with thehamish and we watched the
clouds go by. Wonderful wonderful wonderful.

Oh No !
Quick update,
We had to rush thehamish to the vets and 9am today. He had some sort of episode,
he was violently shaking and panting. After a  quick check-up and the diabetes check on,
they could find nothing wrong. So he is home and resting now.
Hello.... that was a scary wake up call.

  2. Hi, Gayle!

I'm sorry to learn that thehamish experienced some kind of distress and hope he is AOK now. Maybe the Christmas celebrations were too much excitement for him. It was so cute to see him attacking his new plush duck which I imagine has a squeakie inside. I'll bet he wondered why the duck the humans had for dinner didn't squeak. :) Those katties are sleek and pretty and I hope they are sharing their toys with thehamish.

I hope the rest of your week passes w/o further scares regarding thehamish. Take care, dear friend Gayle, and happy new year to you and your family!

  7. Well, you scared me about Ham. I was expecting to see a torn up duck with the eyes chewed off. It sounded like a good Christmas was had. The food made me hungry.

    1. He scared me ! Called the vet and we were there !
As we left a car parked next to us. We saw a very tiny elderly lady having the staff help her carry in her extremely elderly huge golden with wavy and the softest fur. The face was very white and sweet but with sad sad eyes. The dog collapsed and couldn't walk. I am in tears.

    3. I keep saying thehamish is my last one (my health problems are uniting and ganging up on me) but I would like to give an old dog a home to be a friend to thehamish. He only grew up knowing Watson and i know he is hurting,

  12. Your Christmas celebrating sounded so good...just the right mix of folks, cats, gud dog, gud food, clouds, and so forth.

How frightening though to discover thehamish in distress. Good that you were able to get right over to the vet's office. Hoping that a good rest will settle him, so that he can return to his usual charming ways. And that you also are able to have some rest. xo

  14. Glad that everyone including thehamish had a lovely Christmas. I am sorry it sounds as if it was a bit too exciting for him, though, but I am glad the vet was open and reassured you - he probably just needed a rest at his advanced age! :) Enjoy the rest of your break.
