parley view parsnip. . . weekend stuff

Just a bunch of Tucson summer stuff.
It will "only" be 111 here today !
Sweaters anyone ?
.
One morning I walked out past the living room and of course thehamish. To my surprise, the Sage was in full bloom. One day they look like they need water the next day zap blooming.

This is so much better in person but the sun was so bright that it washes out the colors.

This plant will bloom several times this summer.

 Somewhat better photo.
Still way to bright.
.
Till the monsoons come it is hot sky sunsets. Some dust in the air and  the sun shining through.

.

This is a photo from the LA Times of a fire in California.
I could have shown a photo of the wildfire that burned down my home in Laguna Beach
but I didn't feel like finding one but this is what it looked like.

Right now there are 4 fires burning in southern Arizona. Three lighting strikes and the biggest one is man made, started on the border of Mexico and Arizona.
The government haven't said much but many think it was cartel started
to divert attention so they can run the drugs and trafficking of women and children
across the border easier.

.
When my friend D was here for a few day we found some fossils on my land.
Exciting !
It was so exciting we ate them !
My poor attempt at humor.
Pickled artichokes are so tasty.

........................

And of course just because I can here is your pretty for the start of the week.

thehamish is not allowed in the kitchen.
On one end of the island there is a nice sized overhang just right size for a stool.
But I have put a nice rug and their water dish.
Well. . .  thehamish has decided that if he can not come into the kitchen he will get as close
"into" it as he can. Sometimes I just see his sweet little face peeking around the coroner
while sitting on the rug. It is his safe zone I think.

.
I just love this gud dug.

sun. . . parsnip

  1. It might be 111º, but your house looks beautifully cool. That sage is a stunning colour - it looks a little like lavender.
Gud dug thehamish to stay where he's told to. Our two Labs have to be where the action is when there is the remotest possibility of any food around. I am always stepping over them in the kitchen - it's their favourite place in the house!

    1. The house is very cool and feels wonderful on a hot summer day.
The well known designer, Robert Swane (sp) designed homes and buildings in Arizona. My home is passive cool with deep recesses and the sun travels over the home from east to west. No bright hot sun pouring into the windows.
With your Labs you can see them but little dogs you just trip over them.

    3. Pickled carrots are really nice. However, I can't abide by sweet pickles. Dill, please.

    1. I have a sunscreen that goes over about half of my pool. So in the hottest parts of the day I can go in and exercise.
Then when late fall comes we take it down.

    1. That is super nice of you to say.
It is just my home and much of this furniture has been in two other homes.
The only new item was the expensive leaf carpet that my dogs us as a napkin when eating their chicken strips. Just like a dog and or a cat.

  9. Parsnip, these photographs are quite beautiful with the cool shadows in the interior of your home, and the brilliant sun bleached colors of the outdoor views. Lots there for an artist's eye.

I also admired the sky and marveled at the heat you describe. And then felt awful to read your mention of the loss of your California home. My beloved uncle has lived in southern California, for years and I have kept a close eye on the weather there for years.

Let me conclude this with once again telling you how adorable that hamish is always find a perfect place for his next close up. xo

    1. Oh No ! it is hot hot hot and then more hot.
You walk outside and your skin gets prickly and feels like it will just burst into flames, before your eyes. That is why you get up do what chores you have to then stay inside till late in the evening.
thehamish does slip somewhat on the floors now because of his blown ACLs but carpet is not for desert.
