Wednesday with Waldie... and other stuff

Monday Waldie came for a visit, and he brought along daughter.
The nice tall person who plays with the Square Ones.
Then Waldie got tired
and became "The Princess An The Pea"

All curled up for a nap.

just like a tiny coffee bean.

ummmm thehamish wanting to know whot is going on ?
im' hearin the camera but im' not there
im' thinkin' i should be there
why not ?

whot no thehamish in the photo ?
oh woe is me

im' thinkin' photo better whit thehamish.

Daughter came over and went grocery shopping with me.
In fact she took pity on my lack of fun spicy food
I am glutten and nightshade free for six months.
As thehamish would say "oh woe is me"
And made some pickled radishes with carrots.
The green item on top is a left over tomatillo that escaped the chopping board
for Green Tomatillo Salasa Verde sauce daughter made.

Chicken was added to the sauce.
Then she made Flat Enchiladas.

Layering three corn totoriallias with the sauce.

then top with green onions, green olives

add some cheese and a few more green onions.

now tucked away in the freezer.

pretty !

This was so good
Daughter is a great cook, she is vegan but can cook anything.
No recipe needed.
Ack ! just looked up tomatillo and they are a nightshade !
I was under the impression I could eat them.
Bummer !
They now go on the do not eat list.
Oh well it was great while it lasted !
Woe is me !
Son can eat them all now.

Meanwhile, Watson is outside enjoying the lovely Fall weather before Winter comes.
Good old dogs get to do that.

parley view parsnip... a little this and that

My Monday post about what is going on around my home.
A few photos of some Tucson skies from the last few months.

This has been an extremely difficult year for me
and  sometimes waves of frustration can engulf me...
And then I look out my window and I get to look
at this view and sit in the sunshine and I realize how very lucky I am.
Most of the photos are looking west from my backyard.

I have a small point and click that son bought me on my last trip to Japan.
I like it because it is small, light weight and really easy to use and I am able
to lift it long enough to take a photo with out to much trouble.
I have been thinking of getting a newer camera.
but then I would have to learn how to use it.
Bummer !

Here is your pretty (or silly)  to start the week....

ummmmmmmmmm... likin'the view of the chkikin' strips
but not so much likin' the water and soappy stuff
yert !

Watson has his own pillow on my bed so his naps can be more comfortable.
He love to sleep on a pillow !
Perks of been a old sweet baboo.

Wednesday In Japan...

Granddaughter and her Dad went to the Amagasaki City Festival and while there she got to meet Amakko., lots of other mascots, dance, eat festival food, ride a toy train and just had lots of fun.
I have written many post about Japans love of mascots for everything. ..
Amakko is the mascot for the city bus in Amagasaki where my son works. This is one of his favorite mascots and I think granddaughters too.

parley view parsnip... Christmas Memory

And Santa comes early...

Son, dil and my sweet granddaughter stopped off at ToyRUs near Osaka to buy a birthday  gift, last week. While there they looked at the bikes.
Granddaughter really wants a bike and has been asking for one.
This is a push bike that is very popular and she likes it.
You see these in every park, playground and street in Japan.
It was on super sale so they bought it.  While they waited for the staff to put it together, dil took granddaughter to the car put her into the car seat and son smuggled it into the back of the car without her seeing it.
Son said it was the best Dad thing he has done... Buy a much wanted Christmas gift on super sale, two months early  and smuggling it home with her none the wiser.

Which bring me to a Christmas memory.
I remember walking home one late evening as a small child with my Mum and Dad.
We lived in Chicago at the time. It was lightly snowing, cold and dark outside and Christmas lights and decorations  were on displayed in the store windows. I think we had just been to Sears.
I remember holding my Mum's hand while my Dad carried a package. I thought nothing about it just walking and window shopping with my parents.
I guess I had  been asking for a Kitchen Set.  I remember small plastic food, dishes and vaguely remember a small stove. But what I really remember was the tiny loaf of bread that was had a few slices already cut but still attached, I was very intrigued by that.

Well, Christmas Morning arrived and as my Mum tells the story I woke up looked over and saw the kitchen set set up on the table and said "Oh Santa came !  rolled over and went to back to sleep.
My Mum said she was surprised and started to laugh. When all of a sudden, I jumped up and yelled Santa came Santa came ! while running over to see the gift.

I never knew that my parents carried my Christmas gift all the way home on that snowy evening so long ago.
Sometimes my Mum carried me and then they would switch with her carrying the package and my Dad carrying me.

I still remember the tiny loaf of half cut bread.
