parley view parsnip. . . lost weeks

Playing Monday catch-up.
The last two weeks have gotten away from me, I didn't even post last week at all.
You know when you have "that" day that when everything that can go wrong does ?
Well that has been my default setting for this month. It can only get better
I hope !

thehamish is Ok kind of, I take him in for repeat tests this week.
Then we will have a better idea of what is going on.
He is my 6 million Dollar Man.

So let's start this week with some fun and interesting photos.
.
More action shots of thehamish.

.

yesh i thehamish goes fast
.

Purple Heart or Purple Queen at La Encantada shopping center.
I adore this plant the color and the teeny tiny pink blooms, so beautiful.
.

Artichoke Agave (with baby) in my yard.

.

Bloom on one of my succulent plants (kalanchoe).
One of the offshoots is as big as the main plant.
plus since it get more direct sun it has turned more magenta.

Morning shadows.

.
I don't bake much anymore, Daughter and Son are so much better at it.
I tried to make some gingerbread cookies, hahahahahahahahahah.
I add some ancho chili to my batter. It doesn't make the cookie hot
but adds to the spicy flavor.
.
Javelinas
hahahahahahahahacan you tell I do not roll out cookies ?

I also made some Square Dog cookies.
One of them is not like the other. Can you find thehamish ?
There are several that could be him but only one that I made as thehamish.

..........................

And of course, just because I can here is your pretty for the start of the week.

As I was making the cookies I was washing up as I go.  I had some dried items already and
had started to lay them aside so I could put them away and start washing more dishes.
I looked at this mess and thought it was a modern take on the still lifes of the
Old Masters. Flowers, grapes, apples, oranges and possible a dead pheasant or fish on a table.
No dead birds or fish on mine but some other stuff.
My mind works is weird ways.

I like taking photos of whatever is on a table or desk. No fluffing up,
just the detritus of everyday living.
For years I would just put the camera on table and take a photo blind.
It was super interesting and fun.

So here is my kitchen still life.

Have a great start to a new week.

  1. Hi, dear Gayle!

That's the spirit, dear friend. Consider the possibility that you are being forced to deal with all of the problems in January, clearing the way for much better months to come. I hope and pray that he thehamish is AOK. (Give him some chikin.)

I love desert plants! When Mrs. Shady and I traveled to San Diego (and back through Tuscon) on our cross country trip two summers ago, I brought home some kalanchoe cuttings from a large containerized plant on my brother-in-law's back porch. I love your whimsical javelina and square dog cookies and that fabulous kitchen still life!

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Gayle!

The garners say they are perfect but but I am confused about what to do with them after the bloom ?

  2. Gayle,

I'm behind as well. Very fatigued lately. Can't seem to get enough sleep. But I am making progress on my new series. Yay!

    1. Well I must agree, notice I said these were the dishes I wash and moved them.
The sink had a few messy dishes.
I just saw his little part and with twilight it just looked nice.

  9. I know there are such day/week. I do hope things get only better for you!
Never seen Javelinas cookie cutter, that is so cute!! And square ones, too. Is thehamish the one second from the bottom and second from the right?
Love your still life picture. No fluffing up, natural scene makes a great image! Though if I try that in our kitchen, I would capture quite a mess :-)

  10. That is a great kitchen view out of your window there. Would almost make washing dishes at the sink there a pleasure! I htin i;d have ot do some primping before I took any surface shots here. We always have detritus all over every surface. I have this werid thing where once something has sat somewhere, it lives there, so I really have to get into my own head to get myself to clear things off rather than just clean under them and leave them there! The square dog biscuits look gorgeous!

  18. I'm playing catch-up too, Gayle. You just do what you can do. I hope you get good news on Hamish's tests.

The Square Dog and Javelina cookies look great--though I confess, I steer clear of anything spicy these days.
