1 January, Square Dog Friday, Year Of The Monkey

Happy New Year.
As you read on my last post this is the
Year Of The Monkey.
Remember wear a lot of red.
.

I found this postcard on my first trip to Japan many many many years ago at Christmas.
The next Zodiac year was the Monkey.
I found all sorts of postcards to send out New Year greeting,
with every type of artistic to funny monkeys.
Or you can print them up yourself.

Everyone sends New Year postcards wishes out to family and friends.
The post office is overwhelmed but gets out all the New Year Day cards on time.
I usually send out New Year Day postcards but this year I was just to ill and could not
design, print and send them out.
.
Unlike the many people who don't send cards any more in America.
I remember getting so many cards but it has dwindled to just a few.

Lots of valid reasons for many people not to send cards.
But just so many who are just too indifferent.
If it doesn't come on a smart phone why bother ?
Getting real mail is just so wonderful plus if there is a real letter in it even better.
....................

And just because I can here is your pretty for the start of the weekend.
Plus the first post of the New Year.

Happy Happy Happy New Year !

    1. Oh I love e-cards ! I am just an old foggie and like Christmas, Birthday any holiday cards.
I love writing notes. But a real card can be held and looked at again and again. Plus it is so nice to have one peeking out from bills and junk mail.

  3. Parsnip, you're a good egg. Ham too. I don't know how you get him to pose. Mine drop and roll if I try to put anything on them. Unposeable apparently isn't a word, but that is what my weenies are. Happiest new year to you too.

  6. Hi, Gayle!

I thought this is the year of the Dell rat! :) Your post made me smile at the beginning and laugh out loud at the end. I appreciated seeing the Japanese new year greeting card with its whimsical monkey. You're right. It is special when you receive an actual snail mail greeting, even more special if it is accompanied by a handwritten letter. He thehamish really does look like a statue of a gud dog waiting obediently for his chikin' - an incredibly handsome and noble animal he is. I love him!

Thank you for spreading new year cheer, dear Gayle, and thank you very much for your friendship and support as we continue on into 2016. God bless!

  10. I send out Christmas/holiday cards every year and my list seems to grow, maybe because of my guy's photos we always use on them.

The statue is not nearly as handsome as the real Hamish is!

    Happy New Year!

  16. Thanks for the happy music and the cute pictures of theHamish. I love the year of the monkey and will wear more red. Yes, it's too bad no one writes cards anymore. I used to do calligraphy and write or make cards too. Such a shame! Happy New Year!
