what happened this weekend.

Hey... I have a lot to say about last week political surprise but not today.

Instead a few photos of stuff, my everyday stuff.

Daughter sent us a care package from Mitsuwa Chicago.

We were spoiled living in California with the fabulous Mitsuwa (several) we shopped at.

The wonderful food courts (I so miss them) plus all my food supplies from Japan.

The Christmas gifts and New Year gifts were tasty and  beautiful.

The stores were so much fun to shop at.

 Mochi, spices, yuzu kosho (small green jar) umeboshi (pickled plums )

 Drooling over the flyer,  umeboshi candy and cookies.

 Pocky sticks. not very sweet cookies but very yummy.

 Best ever pot to pour Takoyaki batter into the special pan to make octopus dumplings or balls.

Pickled mushrooms and rice spice and wonderful persimmon Furoshiki. Traditional Jappanese cloth used for wrapping gifts and food.

 This is the ban that was around the pot, look at the yummy takoyaki.

 Awwwwwww look at the cute tako. These are all hanging all over Osaka.

plus takoyaki  stands everywhere.  Some of the best takoyaki I ever ate was

made at a tiny stand under the Osaka tower. I really miss Osaka.

 Perilla is a is a herb, spice leaf used in Japanese cooking. 

We see it often on a dish with sushi on it.

I save mine and eat it after the sushi. Kind of an acquired taste but I love it.

 The food and shopping flyer I drolled over all the photos. 

Especially Gobo, I love it pickled.

thehamish tried but he needed a rug for traction to help him  jump up 

so it has never been his chair.

thehamish is always so sweet and nice to both Merida and Oliver but they both still 

want nothing to do with him. Their lost he is so sweet.

EXTRA TUESDAY POST.

With two bad choices that are exactly the same. 

Money grubbing, liars, backstabbing, arrogant, egotistical,

power hungry horrific "people" (?)  running for President
 who to vote for ?

I voted early so mine has already been counted.

And of course my hero, Godzilla the only candidate for President

along with thehamish as his running mate.

God help us all.

No matter who wins the next 4 years will be hell.

How do I know it is fall ?

Monday in Tucson.

Fall here is very different than in many other places.

We drop down from the heat of summer 115+ to the 90's.

Then one day it is in the low 80's evenings in the low 50's.

YeeHaw. . .  It is fall !

A few trees lose the leaves, but really no color unless you drive up 15 minutes 

to the mountains and see the turning leaves.

So how do I know it is fall besides the temperature ?

1. When thehamish comes in fron his early morning sniffs and runs like the wind

for his breakfast, the tips of his ears are cold.

2. The pool heater gets turned off and the sunscreen comes down.

3. The citrus starts turning colors.
4. The last of the Barrel cactus blooms are gone,
5. All the Prickle Pear cactus red seed pods are eaten.

6. The seeds pods are set on the Mesquite trees and they are losing the leaves.

7. The fruit is ripe on the pomegranate trees and they lose their leaves.

Heater is off and sunscreen is put away.

 Pulled this one off the tree before it  exploded

much to the sadness of the Javelinas. They have been munching away.
On the exploding ones.

Exploding poms  I left these on the tree to long.

 Pomegranate  tree, losing all the leaves.

It is only 3 years old and produced quite a few poms. But still very young.

They were so juicy and tasty.

Today there are three pretties.

 Had a nice dinner out, the sushi so good. We had Nikin styled nigiri tako.

The Sushi chef was very skilled with his knife, the octopus was 

cut so thin with a beautiful curled edge, a perfect mouthful.

 What a horrible election but I voted.
