Fire, part 2

An update on Tuesday's post.

The fire has tripled and still only 7% contained.

The winds were gusting 25 to 30 miles, so planes were grounded

for hours.  

I-10 between New Mexico and Tucson was closed several time because 

of smoke and dust, plus many of the state highways in that area.

There are small towns communities, lots of ranches and BLM lands.

This fire is not "near" me, about an hour away but when I look south I can see

dust and smoke in the sky.

A few photos taken from the news, not the best but you can get the feeling of the fire.

The temps will be only about 85 with a drop in the wind so the planes can fly.

This fire was man made.

Here is a photo of a fire in Mesa (Phoenix) right now it is small but

give it a day with the winds and it could grow.

I hope it does not.

It has been a weird Winter and Spring.

Not enough rain and snow and very hot weather to soon. It was 98 yesterday.

Yikes !

We have had several wildfires already but they were contained in a few days.

Now we have one that is getting bigger by the hour, plus the winds are whipping 

it into a frenzy and not letting the firefighters get a handle on it.

About an hour from Tucson.

Monday is here and so is sushi.

Daughter's Birthday was on Saturday, she had a party and 

made this wonderful vegetarian sushi.

For dessert she had mochi and mini rosewater cupcakes.

She makes the best mochi.

 All this talk of sushi and the photos made me so hungry, 

So off to dinner.

 Wonderful cool sashimi on a bed of daikon radish, and pickled gobi.

 I just love the cucumber flower.

If I could live in Japan and didn't live by family and friends, I would live in Mitaka.

Beautiful town, Ghibli Museum and the fact  the Cat Bus from the Totoro Movie 

picks you up at the train station !

I feel a road trip coming on.

Yuzu citrus pepper paste.  What a beautiful label.

chkikin'

Donna, from the wonderful blog "Gather" commented on my last post with the 

Two Square Dogs wearing bunny ears for Easter.

"either you are a dog trainer or the breed is a natural for it"

To answer this I think terriers are very smart and Scotties are the best !

I guess I am a trainer because from day one I train them. I make it fun.

I play with the gud puppies or dogs as soon as we become a family.

I used to get down on the floor (if only today) and play but play time is teaching time also.

the best teaching tool is chkikin'  magic chkikin'.

As you know I have been trying to get Oliver and Media use to thehamish.

Chkikin' is the answer. 

Oliver is always out and about and is interesting in food.

In the morning I head for the fridge to get thehamish's meds and food + chicken. 

Oliver has learned open fridge means chkikin' and he loves chkikin'.

When we walk out from the bedroom in the morning, there is Oliver waiting for us. 

He walks in front "leading" us to the kitchen and plants himself in front of the fridge.

So now he get a tiny piece of chkikin' and thehamish gets a small piece.

thehamish is so gud, he just sits there and waits for his chkikin' while Oliver will be almost 

taking the chkikin' out of thehamish mouth. 

Peace through chkikin' !
