parley view parsnip... monsoon

My Monday post about what is going on around my home in Tucson, Arizona
Monsoon Sunday
Flash flood warning everywhere, storm clouds rolling in, thunder, lighting
and the air overflowing with ozone, dust and sage.

The storm starts

the rain starting at the north east

circulating around the valley

heading south west

I swear this looks like the cloud formation the aliens hide in at the start of
the movie Independence Day

ending in the south west.

Rain on my south facing kitchen window

storm passing over my home and heading north.

The clouds are starting to clear.

Here is your pretty to start the week...

More of the Texas Rangers that are blooming all over Tucson in July.

My friends home down the street

a neighbors

and some in front of my home.

  1. Hello Gayle:
What amazing cloud formations you have captured here. One can almost feel the 'eye of the storm' and its power.
The Texas Rangers look to be very resilient plants and so very pretty. Their clouds of blue flowers reflect the clearing skies after the storm is over.

    1. The clouds are my most favorite part of the summer months.
There are three different colors of Texas Rangers lavender, pink/lavender and a deep purple. They are in bloom everywhere now.

  2. You have such a beautiful home, Gayle!

    1. oh thank you. It is very quite and I like living here, even though I miss the ocean very much.

  3. i remember those fast storms. once i was driving and it was terrifying!

    smiles, bee

    1. I remember those fast moving storm when I was a child. The washes would fill up with fast moving water in the blink of an eye.
One time I even remember it pouring rain straight down and walking to the other side of the street and it felt like I was coming out of a curtain of water.

  4. Is it strange that I'm envious of getting rain?

    1. Oh no, I live in the desert so I am very envious of any rain, so I understand what you are saying.

  5. Those storm shots are fabulous!
Is there anything like a quick desert rain storm? I just love them.
We had a tiny shower after the dust storm but not quite enough in my mind :)
I bet it smelled great at your place!

    1. The rain today was perfect, it was wonderful and it smells so good !

  6. Meanwhile we have endless sunshine.
At least your bad weather seems to be short and sweet-not endless gloomy days as we have had recently.
    The plants are so pretty.

  7. Oh, the smell of sage and ozone... Maybe it's really the #1 thing I miss about America.

  8. When it rains, it really rains there. Desert places are so wonderful after rain.

  9. Please send some of that rain to us in the Northeast! We are at drought levels and can use some of it!

  10. I love the photo entitled: Rain on my south facing kitchen window.

  11. It seems no time at all since you were in the midst of a terrible heat wave Parsnip - is this kind of thing usual at this time of year?
