parley view parsnip... it is so hot in Tucson and a rant

while much of the U.S. is overloaded in rain,
we here in the southwest are burning up.
On my radar weather page, I see the storms come up fron Mexico into Texas up north
and then swing east.
That leaves Arizona dry and gasping for some rain.
This week we might have the start of some monsoon storms.
I am lighting some candles.
Here are a few of my summer "hot" sunsets before the monsoons come.
Sunset and the (very tiny) moon
awwwwwwwwww  I love this one.

From picasa to my blog I always lose some color.

My camera is so fickle and I keep changing the setting to try to get the best colors.
One photo blue and then more green the next.

Much needed water drops on the grass.
A small rant
Last Friday I was reading one of my most favorite blogs.
On the post she had mentiond her friends having a wildlife camera (I am getting one) that takes photos every 5 minutes.  They had noticed a hedgehog that had not moved for over five mintues staying in the same spot. When they looked they found a dead hedgehog with it head bitten off.
The blogger was wondering if a cat could have killed the hedgehog and bitten off its head in 5 minutes. I said yes.
Of course I had to comment by inserting my foot in mouth.
I commented about cats not being left to roam especially un-nutered. and what cats have done to the bird population.
On a farm I understand the need for rodent control but no where else should
a cat be left to roam.
Feral cats are are especially evil.  One un nutered male can sire so many litters in a year, that keep having more and more litters.
If I can find the report I read about a study in the  UK the bird population
has dropped so fast due to city cats being left to run amok
and the French farmers killing the migrating birds.
They are expecting problems. I will post it.
Before I leave my comment, I usually love to read the comments.
I should not have that day.
One comment has stayed with me for three days now and I am repulse, sickened, horrified and much more.
Seems this commenter " has a sweet cat" who regularly catches rabbits, brings then into the house drags them into the bathroom. Then she jumps into the bath with the rabbit so that the rabbit can not get out, they are alive. And eats their head.
Then goes out to get another rabbit.
Hello. what the hell is the owner doing.  Standing around cheering ?
I have seen too much "people" cruelty to animals,
that I don't think we should be adding to it this way.
I hope that commentor does not have children that see this kind of cruelty and think it is OK.  cruelty is cruelty.
This poor rabbit was frightened, toyed with, played with, battered about then finally killed while the cat ate it head.
I understand on a farm one need to keep rodent population under control.
But you get a permit to shoot rabbits. Your don't terrorize and then eat its head
 End of rant.
yert !
And just because I can, here is your pretty to start the week.
As stated and signed in the latest agreement by arbitration.
The Square Ones get more photos.
When it is hot it is hot.

 Gud dug sweet baboo Watson.

Square Dog Friday. . . BanZai

It is Friday and we all know what that means, so lets woof it.
A rather blurry video (why ?) of thehamish playing with a new toy.
Years ago Watson would have been right there in the scrum but now at almost 17 he is slowing down a little.

And here is your pretty to start the weekend.

A few action shots of thehamish with Watson looking on, possibly thinking

Wednesday in Japan. . . but it is really Tucson

I am trying to finish an art project
and as I usually have only about 4 good hours to work
before my eyes start to bother me, so this is a quick post.
Think I have to go back to the doctor and have my eyes sewn-up again they are leaking.
But they are very pretty with lighting bolts, firework and amoebas floating by.
We have this wonderful Japanese Restaurant a few minutes from my home.
It is called Ginza and it is an Izakaya styled restaurant.
Lots of small dishes to chose from that are shared at the table.
Along with sushi it also has the traditional Izakaya dishes of sashimi, tempura and salads.
It also has a nice selection of beers and sake.
Plus a wonderful atmosphere and fabulous owners and staff.
Reminds me of Japan.
 Yuzu Hamachi
I forgot to take the photos of the nigiri, we had hamachi (yellow tail) ebi (shrimp) and mackerel. Gosh I love mackerel, a dense firm fish that tastes of the ocean
 and very rich.

And just because I can or have to according the arbitration.
Here are The Square Ones for your mid-week pretty.
Along with the extra homemade chkikin' strips
they get.
 Gud Dug Watson sleeping

and  dreaming of  flowers.
On his walks he loves to stop and smell the flowers.
He is just so sweet.

And then there is thehamish.
Oh Lord have mercy .....
Sleeping, he is sleeping even with his eyes somewhat open
and the tip of his tongue sticking out.
What a hoot !

parley view parsnip. . . wildlife everywhere

Wildlife  everywhere.
Some outside and a some inside.
When it is hot even the birds come to sit in the fountain and cool off
in the heat of the day.
I have dishes in the wells of the citrus trees that fill up when the
irrigation comes on.  All the wildlife use them.
 Round tailed ground squirrel
.Quail and baby bunny cooling off in the damp earth on a hot day.

I wanted to move a tile in my side yard that was leaning up next to the wall
and found a quails nest.
I don't know who was more surprised the mum or me.
So I put it back till the eggs were hatched.

A quail on my fence keeping watch while his family has breakfast.

Here is your pretty for the start of the week.
As part of the arbitration guess who gets to be the pretty ?
 yert !

Square Dog Friday. . . Oh My Goodness !

Friday is always The Square Dog day on my blog.
It is in their contract and because of last Friday shared blog
I had to go into arbitration. Again and I lost as usual !
So I have fulfilled the one of the terms stated in said arbitration.
Extra post days this week.
Extra homemade chkikin' strips all around !
Thank Goodness !

My very first Scotty was Kirby, named after the vacuum.
Because everything on the floor was hers.
She was a perfect square  Little Square Black Dog.
With the best smile ever.
I miss her every day.
When she was older we brought home a friend for her.
We named him Dr. Watson because he was the companion to Kirby.
We were watching at the time the Japanese animated show
Sherlock Hound, and Dr. Watson was a Scotty !
Best show ever !

 Awwwwwwww sweet baboo Watson.
He is a brindled Scotty and is 16 years old.

 A very Dr. Watson photo.
And yes when he speaks he uses his burrrrrs
He is my sweet sweet baby boy.

And  then several years after Kirby died I found thehamsih.
Oh Lord have mercy on me.
What have I done !
He is a Scotty/Westie mix.
He is 11 years old.
The dark and light side are always in conflict.
Look at this puppy face. so sweet, so innocent so daft.
Because of the Westie he has a short snout and body shape
so he always look younger than he is.

He is will always be a puppy.
.. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Daft dug !

 Oh so innocent
Just look at that face.

I always wonder what is going on in his little brain.
Oh wait... I know

Wednesday In Japan. . . It is still abitration payback time

Wednesday is usually my post on Japan.
But as part of arbitration, instead of just taking over my Monday post,
The Square Ones have requested (hahahaha) this posts too.
I think they read the comments from Friday and Mondays posts.
Yes, Norma I am looking at you !
A month of Square Dogs ?
So lets hit it.
Woof !
Many times I try to take photos of Watson. In person he is so hamdsome but he really
does not like to have his photo taken.
thehamish is completely opposite.
If I am trying to take a photo of Watson, thehamish will always appear.
So naughty.

Quick, take the photo before thehamish comes !

 Not again !

I was sleeping here all quiet and then
here comes thehamish and now I am also a pillow.

I do not even have an answer for this.
One of the few places that Watson can go to have some peace and quiet.

 But thehamish is always near.

sometime i thehamish is so tired, to tired to even to drink water
