Summer is here.
We went from a rather bracing 98 on Thursday hahahaha to 102 on Friday.
I picked 31 May as the day Tucson officially hit 100.
I won ! One whole dollar.

Very young bunny is resting under the Texas Rangers which are about 9 feet tall and give lots of shade.
I have added extra drips to insure plenty of cool earth for the next few months.

This young male quail with no covey of his own is digging a napping place.
I love how deep he is digging.
Finding just the right spot.
I am always amazed by how nosy the quail are.
The ledge outside this window is not deep but they love to walk up and down and peck on the window. Hello Hello are you there ?
I will catch some movement out of the corner of my eye while on the computer and look up to see a quail peeking in . But since I am always watching them it is only fair. No ?
When they whip out a camera then I am in big trouble.

Because of the smoke, our sunsets have that refracted surreal quaility to them
the last few evenings. Reminds me of the Northern Lights somewhat.
This is a very muted photo that doesn't really show how bright this sunset was.

ReplyDeleteThey have many bushes and drip system to hid and cool off under. I also put the sprinkler on for them.

DeleteEven though Watson has and likes bunnies thehamish would chase then so I am very careful when they go outside and not on a lead.

I don't feed the wild ones but... if it wasn't for us humans there would be more water around, so I do make sure to put out water.

It was only that one evening that we had the 60's bright disco colors. We do have fabulous sunsets.

It is so funny it is like they ignore each other. The quail are inches from the bunnies and no one cares.
DeleteNice of you to supply sleeping space. Do you put out water to drink too? We put out a low bowl and stuck a drip emitter in it to keep it full.
ReplyDeleteYes I do but I have javelinas, bobcats and mountains lions mosey through so dishes get tipped. I am sinking a small shallow "pond" in for everyone. plus the dish out under Texas Rangers.
DeleteThat would be nice - perhaps a small pond with dripping fountain, so birds can get on the upper part and critters down below.
DeleteWow, that picture of the sky is gorgeous. Something about the grand colors lifts my heart. It's a shame something so awful as the wildfires is causing it.
ReplyDeleteIt's hot enough here that I'm considering not going outside to do some second-coat painting on the house exterior, but it isn't nearly as bad as what you're experiencing. The poor critters. It's so hot, if a dog wanted to chase that bunny, they'd both be sauntering.
It is the time of the year when if I don't get outside stuff done by 11 that is it and I am inside.
