parley view parsnip... monsoon madness

It is the start of our monsoon season.
Storms just zoom through our valley leaving a trail of havoc as they go.
The Tohono O'odham Nation calls the winter rains (female) they are the nourishing rains and the summer rains (male) are all noise, thunder, lighting and downpours. Lots of action packed damage. Raining on one side of town leaving  the other side completely dry.
I always remember as a child we could stand on one side of the street in the downpour and just walk out of it like a curtain.
Here are a few photos from past summer storms.

    1. Thank you no matter where you point a camera the photos are wonderful. I have always liked the purple one with the lighting hiding and just peaking out a bit.

    1. They are amazing to watch. This year I am going to try to film one zooming across the valley from my hill.

    1. But you need to be here the smell of sage, wet earth and ozone plus the air is charged it is wonderful. As much as I dislike the super hot weather the storms are indeed breathtaking.

  4. Wow, you hardly need television with those storms! I love to watch them so long as I am safely inside.

    2. What a great place to watch a storm. The Midwest is like that, too - low horizons. I went to college in Iowa. I had some friends - a couple - who would drive out to a favorite spot during a thunderstorm to watch the light show. It was good therapy when they were arguing, which was often.

  6. Impressive storm photos. I remember the storms blowing through in Phoenix. We have something similar here in Vegas, but not truly as dramatic.

    1. I know you get less rain than we do but I wondered if they sweep through on the way to somewhere else.

    1. We have great rainbows but as many times I have tried to shot them with my little point and click they never come out as fabulous as they look. le sigh

  8. Splendidly alarming.
Nature really can put on quite a show - but in view of recent events
I'm feeling a little wary of anything too exciting!
