Monsoon Saturday !

The monsoon started today for me at my home at 2:40 pm today.
The sounds of thunder and the smell of sage, dust and ozone from the lighting strikes.
Wonderful.

But it really doesn't officially start for me till a 20 something male gets his truck stuck
in either the Stone or Speedway underpass by Downtown Tucson.
Idiot people who always say  "I thought I could make it through" even though there are signs posted everywhere saying do not enter when flooded with flashing lights even !
Monsoon Madness.

  2. We have similar things here Parsnip - not the monsoons thankfully, but the daft drivers who always think that notices like this don't apply to them.

  3. I have a good friend who went to grad school in Tucson. He lived for rain. I realize a monsoon is more of a watch-what-you-wish-for situation...

    Stay safe.

    1. The winter rains (female) are the nourishing rains and the summer rains (male) are all noise, thunder, lighting with downpours. Lots of action packed damage.
But you can be in a downpour and across the street dry, it is one of the fun fact of summer monsoon in Tucson

  4. Silly, silly drivers.

Their way of thinking is "what's the worst that can happen?"

    1. You know I have no sympathy for any of the drivers as they have to send in the rescue teams, firemen and police to get them out and who pays for all this... me.
If they want to be stupid I want them to pay the bills

  5. Never, ever ask, "What's the worst that can happen?" You usually find out!

Summer in the City...love that song!

  6. We've been having a good bit of rain here, too, but nothing I'd characterize as monsoons. I like your description of the female vs. the male rains. I enjoy both. When the soft nourishing rain comes, you can practically see everything get greener right before your eyes, and booming thunder and flashing lightning really gets the adrenaline going. I LOVE the excitement of a thunderstorm. As long as it isn't accompanied by those terrifying high winds.

    1. Our monsoon season is just starting... it is really quite beautiful in a crazy hysterical kind of way. And when A storm zoom through we can get so high winds.
The Female/Male rain belief come from the Tohono O'odham/Akimel O'odham People.
