parley view parsnip. . . Mum's Birthday.

I have written before about my Mum but this year I am missing her even more.
.
.
We all think our Mum's are the best as it should be.
But I just adored my Mum.
Her name was Dolly.
I am still in awe of of her gardening skills.
She could put a stick in the ground
and the swear the next day it would have leaves and a bloom.
She could make a meal out of 5 ingredients and you would think it was a feast.
She baked the best breads and miss her pierogi and date cookies to this day.
I miss her Polish cooking.
Her cookbook was burned up in a California wildfire
that burned my home so many years ago.
She knew all sorts of family natural home remedies,
that I wish I had written down.
She was very artistic and her embroidery and dressmaking was was lovely.
She was an accountant before she married.
She always wrote the most beautiful straight numbers even when her hands
were crippled with arthritis.
I miss her everyday.

My Daughter takes after her so smart and talented
and now I have a Granddaughter
who was born one day before her Great Grandmother Birthday.
Isn't life grand.
.

Here is Japanese Son,  five years ago with lovely Mia-chan.
accccck I can't stand the cutest tiny foot,  I just want to hold it in my hand.
But now it belongs to a 5 year old dynamo cutie-pie !
ummmmm no foot holding now.

.......................

And just because I can here is your pretty to start the week.

    1. I think of her everyday.
What gives me some peach is that I know my daughter Nicole is with her and all my dogs too.

  2. Oh, that made my heart hurt in a bad way and a good way.

I'm currently having issues with my Mom's memory (all of a sudden!) and the physical distance between us. Family; love 'em.

    1. Have your Mum tell you stories or what ever into a recorder as soon as you can,
      Save what you can.

    2. I've done that my whole life, starting with my great grandmother. Long ago, my mom said I knew more family history than she did, ha ha.

    3. Great ! I wish I had done more of that.My Grandfather had such an Interesting life.
I have just a few memories of him. He was old when I was born.
When he came to America you had to have a sponsor or a job waiting. and a health check.
Not just step across the border. Like today where I live.
What I miss is the story of how my Grandparents made it from Poland
across Europe, Atlantic, New York to Chicago. What a heart wrenching trek.

  7. Happy birthday to your wonderful mum. This is such a beautiful tribute and touching post for her. And what precious memories you have.
She was very beautiful. I'd think this is a photo from a magazine if you didn't tell it's your mum. The photo of your granddaughter Mia is so beautiful, too. That foot is way too cute :-)

Hugs to you on your mum's birthday xoxo

I never asked my children when they were going to have their own children.
If they want some great if they don't want any children that great too.

  11. What a beautiful tribute. Moms are the center of the family--they are the ones who made us who we are today. I think we're lucky to have had such great ones!
