parley view parsnip. . . the weekend

Some photos from the weekend.
.
More photos of the Century Plant.
It has finally stopped growing at about 30 feet.
Now all the energy is putting out the blooms.
.
.

.

Beautiful
.

I tried to lighten up this photo so you could see the Gila Woodpecker better.
This plant is a magnate for every bird and is now filled with bees.
I just sit outside and watch the fun.
.
As you can see as the plant puts all it's energy into the stem and blooms.
And now the plant it's self slowly dies. It is so sad.
Thankfully in back you can see one of the baby plants left behind.
.
Here is Watson chasing the sun.
.
Moving sun
.
Goodness heavens, chasing the sun is sometimes hard work.
 .

..................

And as always just because I can here is your pretty
to start the week.
.

So happy Watson and thehamish have found a good place
nap when the sun has moved much to high.

  1. Such beautiful shots!

Chasing the sun can be hard work, but count on a Scottie to step up and get it done.

  2. I have never seen a tree like that before. And your boys little bums look so sweet in that last pic. We always tease Hair Ball about his. When he had all of his fur, we call him Bunnie-Butt.

    1. Yes I am so lucky to live here even when it was 107 today.

  5. Oh wow! The plant looks spectacular! It looks really gorgeous in front of the big blue sky. Love the photo with woodpecker. The branches must make a nice perching spot for birds. It's really sad the plant will just die after it's fully grown, but how nice it leaves the baby plant. Baby alien is gonna grow :-)
Watson is so cute chasing the sun. And your square ones are adorable napping together! Have a happy week!

  6. Such sweet doggies! My kitty likes the sun, too, but is too lazy to chase it except in winter!

I've never seen a century plant before though I've heard of them! Thanks for showing it!

  9. I loved our Century plants in La Quinta but we usually stopped them half way for some reason. Too hard to clean up once they wilt or something. Friendship is better than the sun! Great photos.
