..................
Oh My Goodness !
This awful freezing weather should not be happening right now.
Tucson's winter starts late January
and ending in middle February.
But this hard freeze cold snap weather is now happening every few years.
I don't think my small citrus grove
can handle much more of this type of weather.
The last time this happened, several years ago the freeze destroyed
over half of my trees.
Even though I have covered and wrapped the trees on New Year Eve,
I am not sure they will make it through this weather.
Most of them are over 50 years old.
New Years Eve evening will be down to about 20 degrees.
I just don't understand this at all.
.
  .
Not sure what will happen to what is left of my  citrus trees.

.............................
And just because I can here is your pretty for the start of the weekend.
Walkers Chocolate Shortbread and  Mini Scottie cookies.
They are very good.
But I can only eat them when The Square Ones are not watching me.
It is very hard to bite off their tiny heads when 4 reproachful eyes
are looking at you eating the cookies.

Oh Goodness Me !

  1. I think that may be the first time I've seen snow in one of your posts.

    1. There is always snow on the mountains around Tucson in the winter.
but it is usually warm in the valley. 60 to 70 most day 32 to 45 at night.
A few days of colder weather with rain and snow in the mountains.
then a few days of sun.
But the last 7 years it is all scrambled !

I have a comforter folded with another fluffy blanket on that.
Both Square Ones have been burrowing into this and cuddling up together.

    1. The first time was so heartbreaking. The last two times have been not so bad. I am trying to save them but it has been about 5 years now.
I will have to have the tree surgeon in again this spring and make some hard choices.

    2. How much does a tree surgeon run these days? Yikes, if it's high.

  7. Oh no, bad weather, too cold! The first photo expresses how you feel perfectly :-) It's been rainy but warm here lately. Trees are getting some green leaves and birds are around. I hope your trees survive the cold!
Those shortbreads are so cute! And (whisper) yummy and I love to eat from head to toe :-) They had Christmas version, which got shapes of trees and stars and such. Of course I got a box!

Happy Square Dog Friday and have a great weekend xoxo

They are both old and not so happy about the freezing weather. They both do not like the rain.

    1. It SNOWED. But it is gone now. Back up to the mountains. It is the hard freeze that is the worst.

  11. The weather patterns have really been turned onto their heads, haven't they? I hope your trees survive. Did you try spraying water on them? I know that sounds weird, but that's how they get their citrus trees through cold snaps in Florida. The ice that covers the trees after being sprayed serves as an insulation.

Happy New Year! (Um, would it be too much trouble to provide your little square ones with an indoor potty so they don't have to go outside...? I'm sure they'd appreciate it. HA!)

  12. My Square Ones are so spoiled..... but indoor potty ummmm a big no.
I have a small side yard that is fairly inclosed and away from the west winds.
So they are fairly OK out there But let me tell you it is out then back in FAST !

  13. Poor citrus. Brave dogs and time to eat more cookies next to the fireplace!!! We have tons of snow. Very unusual. I think the storm picked our house this year!

  14. I wince for your trees, and hope, hope, hope they can survive.

That's a cracker of a photo of Hamish in the storm!

Happy new year to all three of you, and may the snow be gone by tomorrow.
