parley view parsnip. . . Arizona Inn

A visit to the Arizona Innis always a treat.
I have never stayed there but I have gone there for lunch
and walk a bout several times.
In the 1930's, one arrived to Tucson, population 30,000, to stay for weeks or months
at the Arizona Inn.
Isabella Greenway, the driving force behind the Arizona Inn was also the States first Congresswomen in the 1930's. The history of her and the Inn traverses Teddy Roosevelt and The Rough Riders,  starting companies to hire the disabled Veterans who came to Arizona for the healthy air after being gassed in the trenches of Europe.
Even Franklin Roosevelt's whistle stop tour of the West and vacation for movie stars,
is all part of Isabella Greenway and the Arizona Inn history.
The Inn is now surrounded by an ever growing mid town noisy Tucson.
But once you step into the Inn and the 14 landscaped acres
you walk back into December 1930
of quiet and beauty.

 .

Everywhere you look is something wonderful to see.

 .

 .

Little treasures to entice the eyes around every corner.

 .

I just wanted to rip this light off the wall.
The little birds turn when there is a breeze.

 Kumquat envy.
My two trees were distroyed in the hard freeze 7 years ago.

Yes please, I would love to play.
The chairs are quite comfy.

 .

 .

Huge olive and pepper trees everywhere.

    3. I had so many of their albums that were burned in the fire. The fire was so hot that not much was left.
      Just the best.

    4. Sorry to hear it.

I believe one song on Revolver has genuine healing powers: "Here, There and Everywhere."

    1. The city is all around the Inn. The University of Arizona Hospital plus the University starts there too.
Just down one block from two major streets. You wouldn't know it.

  6. I want to touch everything! And I agree, if we were together we would have to discuss who would get the light with the birds spinning in the breeze. (paper, rock, sissors?) lol. But the drawing of Watson in his Christmas sweater tops it all.

  7. I love, love, love the drawing of Watson, so handsome!!
We used to have an ad on TV, in the 70's I think, about sending our sinus's to Arizona - I thought about it when I started reading this post. (Don't ask me what they were advertising, lol) The Arizona Inn is very well preserved isn't it and definitely still 1930's.

    1. I was talking to one of the landscape workers about the kumquat trees. And how did they cover them when we had a deep hard freeze.
He said we don't. Of course they are in the city, lots of warm walls and roads all around. I live way up in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains and I get hit hard.
He also said we work everyday on keeping up everything. No stopping.

  8. This is such a beautiful inn! Love the light with birds and a decoration in the photo above the light. It must be really nice to walk around there on a sunny day :-)

    1. It is still special but it has it's share of problems being so close to the border.
That many in the government somehow overlook.

  10. The outside is interesting. But I'll have to fight you for the light though.
