This is usually the day I post about Japan.
But one of my best friends came from Laguna Beach for a visit.
We zoomed around all seven days. Here are two of our favorite Parks to visit.

I have posted on this before.
It is a Arizona Bee House that is a wonderful sculpture .
Arizona Bees are very friendly but really leave you alone.
I lurve them and I am very allergic to bee stings.
.
Outstanding Mariachi Band from Pueblo High School.
This was my High School so many years ago !
The lead female singer was wonderful. Crystal clear notes so perfectly held.
All I can say is she had a pair of lungs on her and she is only in High School.
If you know Mariachi music, not narcocorrido music,
you know you must be able to hold your notes.
you know you must be able to hold your notes.
The whole band was fabulous.
I grew up listing to great Mariachi music.
I am writing the Pueblo High School a note (I write everyone) to say how much
I enjoyed listening to them. I think a hand written note means so much more.
.
Arizona Desert Sonora Desert Museum.
.
.
Another beautiful rock wall in front of a pale lavender wall.
With some Organ Pipe cactus.
.
Quite young Organ Pipe cactus.
.
Saguaro cactus come in all shapes and sizes.
I really wanted a person to stand, on a stool, behind and stretch their arms out.

And you wonder why I love syfy !
I grew up around Space Alien plants.
This is (I think) Fouquicria from the Ocotillo Family.
Extremely tall maybe 15 feet ?
I always think they are towers to call home.
Where ever that may be.

These are wonderful, Gayle! Hope the two of you are having a great time!
ReplyDeleteThank You, She went home but will be back soon.
DeleteI used to visit her often but health gets in the way as you know.
Sounds like fun. Wonderful pics, too.
ReplyDeleteShe loves coming here for quiet, fun and shopping !
DeleteAround here we call that type of cloud formation a Mackerel Sky. Very pretty and tis said they resemble the scales on the fish. The saying goes; "Mackerel Skies, three days dry" Just a little Yankee folklore I suppose. So good to hear you having fun this past week. There's nothing like a good old friend and lovely visit. X
ReplyDeleteI used to know lots of clouds but sorta forgot lots of their names.
DeleteAdore your "Mackerel Skies"
Yes, good friends are the best.
Those parks are beautiful. I bet your friend had a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteThe photo of prickly pear pad growing next to each other is very impressive. Sometimes I'm amazed that nature creates very uniform or orderly shapes. I'm not familiar with mariachi music. I gotta check it out! I'm sure the band members will treasure your hand-written note. It's always great to show gratitude and hand-written note is the perfect way to do so :-) Love the sculptures. They are very cute!
The picture of sky is stunning. It does look like a big ocean. Oh, I like Pet Shop Boys!
Always a Pet Shop Boys fan.
DeleteBeautiful shots! The terrain in your area, particularly with the cacti, is so different from what I'm used to that it always fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteYes, I live in a land of SyFy..... I like it !
DeleteWhat great shots and wow, fun day for sure. Love those.
ReplyDeleteHave walker will travel !
DeleteThat's an excellent bumper sticker for your walker.
DeleteVery funny and true.
Thank you so much for taking us along with you. Wonderful photos and I would love to have been able to hear the band. The dear is beautiful and I love the cactus.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you enjoyed the two parks.
DeleteLove that deer! Your world is SO different from mine. Always a pleasure to be taken on a tour, even if it isn't in Japan.
ReplyDeleteI had all these photos and thought I should share them.
DeleteThat's a park I'd like to walk through.
ReplyDeleteThe parks are very lovely. But I grew up around them.
DeleteI just love cacti - it must be wonderful to live where they grow.
ReplyDeleteIt is so very different from where you live. But it is home.
DeleteI gasped at those blue desert skies, Gayle. Your photographs are making my eyes buzz and hum in my head.
ReplyDeleteEven your comments are so lovely.
DeleteThey were taken with my cell phone.
Much easier for me to hold.
After that whirlwind visit I expect you felt a bit tired? It must have been a lot of fun.
