parley view parsnip...

My Monday post about what is going on around my home.
Fabulous tomatoes.

Good news I saw a beautiful Bobcat just moseying down my street (go U of A Wildcats) Bad news is I saw it at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night as I was rushing Hamish to the Veterinary Specialty Clinic. Three hours later we were all home and he was doing much better.
Sick or not he is a very stylish puppy wearing a gift the fabulous Empress Bee of the blog "muffin53" made for him, Watson has one too. Too bad he is so balck that in this photo you can only see the charm part and not the beads. She makes them for cats also. If you go to her blog you can find a link to her Etsy shop. I can't seem to get the link to work today....
Thanks Empress Bee, The Boys say woooooooof !

This is a plain wall on the West side of my small fenced in yard. All that was there was some pipes for the pool that are quite ugly.
I designed these rather big panels that swing open so the pool-man can access the pipes. The wall gets very hot in the summer and I didn't want to put plants there that need watering, plus the space is narrow. But the magic happens at night.

This area of the yard is very dark at night so I had the metal panels punched with holes so the light inside can sparkle like the stars in the sky and reflect in the pool. The flash makes the yard look much brighter than it is. It is much softer and glowing but it is so pretty and I am very happy with how this project came out.

  1. Hello:
Gosh, your pool panels are so sparkly and what a wonderful effect they make on reflection in the pool's surface. Just like swimming amongst the 'Milky Way' itself we should imagine!

We hope that Hamish is recovering.....11.30pm seems like a very late appointment with the vet.

  5. Terrific pictures! Your back yard view looks splendid. And Hamish looks dignified and grand, even if he's been under the weather.

  6. Is that a real bobcat, to which you were referring Parsnip? A scary thought to me. And your pool at night is stunning.

  7. Jane and Lance...
The panels are the best idea I ever had. I love to sit outside in the evening.
We took Hamish to the emergence room of this clinic.
My vet is closed on weekends.

    Empress Bee...
The charms are lovely, The Boys and I love them.
I love the pool too !

    Jenny Woolf...
Yes, he is somewhat better but he has so many health problems. I have to decide when to schedule his next operation and if I really want to put him through it.

    Kirk...
And he would love if you could reach in and pet him. Any attention is really welcome.

    William...
Thanks I really like my backyard. I have kept it simple and very desert friendly.
Everyone loves Hamish, he always looks like a puppy because of his short muzzle. He is 7 right now but doesn't look it. He is a hoot !

    mrsnesbitt...
And a WOW WOW right back at you, I saw your sneak peek at your fabulous kitchen.

    Elizabeth...
nice to hear from you, I hope all is well with you and your family.
Yes a real Bobcat. I have lots of wild animals around where I live. That is one of the reasons why I love living here.

  8. I'm torn between eating those tomatoes and petting Hamish. No, I will not, not, not get another dog in this lifetime, but he reminds me of how wonderful Scotties are. Beautiful poolside night. Thanks so much, Parsnip. Today was a tough one. Reading your post and looking at the pictures was a peaceful spot.
