parley view parsnip. . . Monday the 4th

Just a few bits and bobs.
.....
Daughter sent me a few treasures from up North where she lives now.

Bay Furnace Slag.

Looks like a sculpture with a deep green glaze.
So beautiful.
If I was there I would be looking all over for pieces like this.

Birch bark, driftwood limestone and I missing a piece of metamorphozed slate.
I moved it to take a photo and forgot to put it back.

I love dishes of small treasures.
.
View of the Mountains after the all night rain a few days ago.
The air was so full of moisture that the clouds were very low.

.

.

.

As I said befor, this looks like a winter rain and not the summer monsoons.
You can not even see the Santa Rita mountains in the distance.
This storm zoomed down from the Four Corner Region.

.......................

And as always just because I can here is your pretty to start the week.

I thought the shadows across this very tasty salmon roll was just so beautiful.
If you can make this photo bigger the salmon roe sparkled like rubies in the sunlight.
.

.
thehamish follows me when head to the bedroom but I forgot my water so I turned back.
When I started to come back there he was waiting for me.
I just love this photo.
My very sweet Little Black Square Dog.

  1. Hi, dear Gayle!

Happy 4th to you and the thehamish! That last picture brings tears. No one will ever be as loyal to you as your sweet little black square dog.

Who would ever think that works of art can come from smelting waste? I collected rocks and minerals as a boy and remember having a few pieces of slag. There is beauty everywhere if you are willing to look for it. I love the artistic arrangement on the dish with bark, limestone and slate.

The cloud bank is spooky, but it looks like your javelinas got some welcome relief from the heat.

Have a wonderful week ahead, dear friend Gayle!

    1. hahahahahaha, I don't look at my studio and closet right now !
The "living room" in summer really doesn't get that much use. We are outside or in my studio. The studio has a sofa about a million pillows for The Square Ones and all my work areas. Somedays not a very pretty sight.

  4. Parsnip, I agree with your giving those treasures proper staging areas. They are beautiful.

So is that view of misty low clouds that you have photographed. It is surreal and very real.

Ahh, but the view of thehamish at the end of the hall is The One.

    Happy 4th of July. xo

    1. That room stays very clean just because of the fact the Gud Dugs and I live mostly in my studio.

  8. Some beautyful little treasures you got from your daughter. That stone lokes like lavastone and the grean shine looks like melted glas. Your display is so tastefull just like the rest of your house. So the wheater at your part of the world is not what it should be. Here it is summer but much to cold and to much rain is falling and have fallen. Oh well the sun will come out some time. So take good care of yourself and that lovely dog who makes us all melt.
    Regards,
    Roos

  9. Wow, it's such a beautiful treasure! The slag looks like a ceramic art! And your photo of salmon roll is very pretty, with light and shadow, and sparkling salmon roe!
Love the last photo. What a sweetheart thehamish is. At the end of the day, Niko waits for me on top of the stairs :-) I hope you had a good holiday. Happy new week!

  11. At first I thought you were going to be talking about a plate of food. I thought, that looks interesting. Perhaps it is some Japanese dish :)
