I like almost (almost) everything about Japan.
The art or design is a huge plus for me.
The use of great design in many everyday things leaves me amazed.
When I am in Japan before zooming back, my suitcases are filled with
dishes, paper goods and any food items that have great designed covers.
This is a bottle that Son sent me. After I used it I could not throw it away.
So now it sits by my sink and I put leaves, single flowers, branches
and cut herbs in it.
This was some thyme that was bought at the market.
What was left of the herb I put in the bottle like I have done a million times before.
Only this time I noticed it was growing and sending out roots.
This has never happened to me before.
Two wonderful surprises !
.
......................
And as always just because I can here is your mid-week pretty.
.
Two gud friends on my bed as usual.
We miss Watson so much.
We miss Watson so much.
Gud dug thehamish is resting in the sun.
herbs. . . parsnip
music. . . Bennie and the Jets, Elton John
How warm that sun looks and how pretty your herb bottle is! I'm not surprised that the thyme wants to put down roots and stay. Gorgeous doggie pics as usual. x
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to see you pop up !
DeleteI have never had that happen to me befor.
How is your foster gud dug doing ?
It doesn't take much for plants to establish themselves.
ReplyDeleteSquare Dogs are always a cheerful sight.
I have never had store bought cut herbs do this before.
DeleteHamish in the sun, who could ask for more.
ReplyDeleteMy sweet little sweet baboo.
DeleteI'm also a fan of Japanese visual esthetics, whether in textiles, or ceramics, or woodblock prints, or anything to be found at Muji.
ReplyDeleteGrand to see that your thyme snips also embrace the Japanese surroundings.
Clearly, the Hamish understands visual esthetics too.
xo
You live in such a visual exciting area.
DeleteWhen I visited NY I loved every second.
I love Muji !
Tears in my eyes with that picture of Watson and thehamish on your bed but a little smile with thehamish resting in the sun. So nice of you to share those memories.
ReplyDeleteI just ran across that one. It was such a sweet photo.
DeleteGosh I miss him.
It's so neat that the herb is growing in the bottle! And I love how it's growing toward the side - I can't think of better expression, but the whole thing has got sort of Japanese look :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very sweet photo of Watson and thehamish together. They were such good friends xo
I so agree with the Japanese Look !
DeleteWatson and thehamish were the best of friends. I miss that.
Arguably the best 'pretty' you have ever posted Gayle!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww Thank You very much.
DeleteI'm always happy to see photos of Watson and Hamish!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I tend to keep bottles or other containers that have visual appeal and find new uses for them. It's a shame to throw away (or even recycle) something beautiful.
I have taken the labels off and made postcards also.
DeleteThe song in my head is "I'm turning Japanese oh yes I'm turning Japanese"..... I too love their ancient and beautiful culture. Not sure about the younger culture though.
ReplyDeleteIt is all good !
DeleteAre you still considering adopting a new friend for the Hamish? I know how much you both miss Watson and while no dog could ever take his place, there are so many sweet gud dugs hoping for homes in shelters that would repay you both with loads of love and friendship....Just a thought, my friend!
ReplyDeleteGive Mr. H a kiss from me! :)
We have meet and greet several dogs I just haven't said too much about them.
DeleteI did talk about the last 2 on one of my last posts.
If it was just me I would take home the oldest or the dog who needs meds.
But as I am looking for a friend thehamish, I want to keep it smaller. He was attacked by a big dog and it took a long time to recover and I am not sure we should get a big dog for him. Plus thehamish is now 11
oppppppe forgot we are meeting a shelter gud dug who is extremely shy and has other issues. In fact he is being taken care of at a foster home because he was not doing well at the shelter. We looked at a shelter dog so besides everyone knowing Adam (he volunteers) they thought this dog might work.
DeleteI used to sing Bennie and the Jets into my hairbrush as a teenager! Missing Watson. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
ReplyDeleteNeed Kleenex. Sniff.
Oh.........I know how you feel.
DeleteCoco went nuts the other day. I was showing the house to a family that was looking for a place. We had put up all her toys temporarily. While running around outside, she came back in with another dog's tennis ball. We laughed and then...forgot to take that ball away from her.
ReplyDeleteSee, Coco is ball crazy and we never keep balls that fit under the couch. She will go insane if she can't get them. And that is exactly what happened. She tore the liner of the couch (the underside) trying to extract that darn tennis ball.
Arghhhh....
They make you mad and then you look at them and you know who cares I love her.
DeleteA lovely blog again Parsnip. As Always I like the photos of the dogs and I feel for you missing Watson so much.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Roos
Sun patches are the best.
ReplyDeleteJust this morning I planted rosemary, lavender and sage. I've lost - over the years at least 3 rosemary and lavender bushes. Not sure why.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely series of photos. :)
