Wednesday In Japan... Revenge of the TAKO !

.

TAKO
or
Octopus to many.
Much like squid, cuttlefish or calamari, unless it is battered and fried
many people will not eat it.  And squid ink pasta oh the horror !
And octopus, I  mean who eats octopus ?
Me !
.
I thank my fabulous Mum who exposed all of her children to eating wonderful,
nutritious and different food. Fish was one of them.
Not just that battered fish like food called fish sticks of the 50's
In fact I usually will pick a fish dinner over a meat one.
.
Octopus oh no !...  but really what person outside the UK doesn't look aghast
at something called Spotted Dick ?  hahahahahahaha
.
Anyways, what got me on this ramble was " The Happy Whisk" blogger
was very excited to find a "Babycakes Cupcake Maker".  A round small cake ball maker.
I have a Takoyaki pan that makes the small savory batter round snacks
filled with a small piece of tako.
I was wondering if I could use a cake batter to make a sweet round cupcake.
And yes, not filled with a piece of tako.
I hear you William !

Many of you have seen this "Cooking With Dog" already but who can resist Francis ?
Tako Tako Tako Tako
.
And just because I can
Here is your pretty for midweek.

  1. Oh, I'd have to pass on seafood! I just can't stomach it.

The boys look far too adorable, as always. But they already know it.

  3. Yay for TAKO! It's great your mom let you experience different food. When travelling, one of my favorite things is to try local food. When in Osaka, goota have takoyaki!

    1. Gosh no lie... Osaka means takoyaki !
Much of my family lives outside of Osaka.
I also love the Hanshin Tigers even though they never win.
