When it is hot even the birds come to sit in the fountain and cool off
in the heat of the day.

I have dishes in the wells of the citrus trees that fill up when the

Your wildlife is SO different from ours. Fascinating to see!
ReplyDeleteI love your red cardinal and the quail. British quails are very insignificant birds in comparison.
It`s hot work being a dog on a hot, hot day :-)
It is so hot but no monsoons yet. We are all waiting.
DeleteI just love all that wild life Gayle (including that indoors!) - isn't the quail pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe one bird I really wish we had here is the red cardinal -= I have seen them when I was in Phoenix some years ago
(Flagstaff actually) - so thrilling. I bought a little one which I keep on my key ring.
I love the Cardinals too so bright but I must admit I love the females even better, they are grey with a blue tint and quite beautiful.
DeleteLove the quail photo. You captured that crazy head feather perfectly! Is it just me, or does the head of a quail kind of resemble fancy Samurai headgear? So pretty indeed.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with the Samurai Headgear too.
DeleteI think They are so beautiful.
Oh my that rabbit looks so hot! And what wonderful birds. You will think I am an idiot but for a minute I thought that fish was a real one! duh....
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!
Well a fish is sort of in the water but not quite...
DeleteThat quail and bunny pic is sweet!
ReplyDeleteHugs and chocolate!
In the summer bunnies and quail are always cooling off together.
DeleteHiding toys under the pillows is something different!
ReplyDeleteThe animals think of your place as an oasis.
thehamish doesn't do it that often but when he does it is so funny.
DeleteFantastic animals, you have all about. They all look at home.
ReplyDeleteThey share their land with me, so I must be a good friend to them
DeleteYou have such great wildlife there! The quail and bunny hanging out together is so sweet :-)
ReplyDeleteI've heard it's difficult to snap roadrunners because they move so quickly. That's a great shot!
Cute thehamish with his hidden toy and gentle sweet Watson! Have a great new week!
Yes, the roadrunners are hard to get a photo of because when you get ready to take their photo they move.
DeleteThe one of the quail and bunny is very sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe little bunny came often then either moved on or .......
DeleteMiss the cuteness. Such tiny feet
The animals you get are so different from ours. I love our Vermont critters but we sure don't get roadrunners! Even your squirrels are different.
DeleteYou have wonderful creatures around and inside your house!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the ones outside are sweeter !
DeleteSt. Francis is smiling on you! What great photos and how much fun it must be to just sit and watch the wildlife enjoy your back yard. Every time I try to take a close up photo of Archie or Boswell they do the same thing that Watson did in today's photo - nose to the lens!! Thanks for sharing such dear pictures.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice St, Francis in the first photo over the fountain I have several around the house.
Deletewhat a cute little zoo you have!! i love cardinals and roadrunners? wow!
ReplyDeleteand thanks for your sweet comments about Broken Branch Falls!
Good luck with your new book !
ReplyDeleteI bet all of the animals that visit your lovely garden are sooo greatful for the water you provide for them. It all looks really hot and dry there. Watson is looking particularly dashing.
ReplyDeleteYou have awesome birds living in your yard!
