August 1st 2012

Can you believe it is August already ?
I can't, Where did June and July go ?

This is my photo  calendar I made for gifts last Christmas.

I had great fun matching the photos with the months.

Some favorite storm clouds.

Daughter came over on Saturday
and made pickled jalapenos with carrots and garlic.

Just look at the colors.
Very tasty too.

She also made a batch of Jalapeno Candy.
You cook the jalapenos in a sugar suryp, spicy, hot and sweet.
I chopped some of them up and had it on my cottage cheese this morning.
So good !
Thanks talented Daughter, you can use my kitchen any time !

  1. Those are stunning storm cloud photos on your calendar.

Are jalapenos some kind of small green pepper? Not sure I have heard of them before.

    1. Jalapenos are medium green chile peppers about 2 to 3 inches. Used in Southwest cooking.
I will write more on the peppers on Monday

  5. Hello Gayle:
What a lovely idea to have made calendars as gifts and to have 'matched' an appropriate image with the month. We note the storm clouds gathering for August and imagine that this is a month of very high temperatures for you followed by thunderstorms.

    1. It was fun to match the photos to the right month.
We are having a few hot days before the next round of storms

  6. I love that clever calendar Gayle.
As for the food, isn't it odd how different our food is from yours
over there. I am not even sure I know what Jalapenos are.

    1. Different maybe but really not so different I think. You make all kinds of chutneys and pickles so do we. Different fruits that all.

  7. What a decorative pot it is, if it was mine I'd put it against a window instead of in a cupboard!

    1. It is just a small glass pot that had jelly in. It was a good size and shape so I saved it.

  9. Mind you, it took me months to stop writing 2011 when I was jotting down the date.
