parley view parsnip...

parley view parsnip..., a photo by angryparsnip on Flickr.

My Monday blog about what is going on around my home.

This weekend I have been working on sketches of the wonderful Tucson
sky.
I am a cloud nerd !

On my Friday's post I forgot to mention what I use are colored pencils
and of course erasers. I have a coffee tin filled with prismacolors,
crayola and a very cute brand of pencils I think I found in a Japanese
market.
These are mostly leftovers from my children. I never throw any art
supply away until completely used up.

I have several sketch books laying around but I mostly grab some
smooth card stock that I use for making my cards but I have drawn on
crumpled paper, invoices, envelopes, cardboard boxes and paper plates
what ever I can find.

Close-up of drawing on post below.

  1. Hello:
What a thrify artist you are. Your cloudscape [is there such a word] is beautifully drawn. How wonderful to be able to capture the sky on paper in all its varying moods. We could be cloud geeks too!!

  2. I neglected to compliment you on your earlier post with the cloud sketch. Not only is it glorious, I am envious. Though very artsy, I do not draw, paint or sketch. It would come in so handy.

I, too, collect and gather everything that can possibly be incorporated into art. Sorry - base language: just this morning I told a friend that crafters always "have shit", "trade shit" and ask their friends to "save shit". Not the nicest way to tell it, but I'm sure you'd understand.

  5. The clouds are just lovely! It's inspiring to see. I am also interested in your signature stamp.
Do you use this on all your work?

What more can I say but I love the Arizona sky.
    I am a cloud geek !

    Leslie...
I have boxes of stuff that I know I will use some day and then when I get frustrated by the amount will toss some stuff and then the next day I will need it.... oh well.

    Norma...
Thank You, I just started one of your books...
    Your a wonderful writer !

    jeanette...
Yes, the clouds are lovely but I sit and draw inside, too hot for me to be outside right now.

    Joanne...
I use it mostly on my cards on the back were I have the name of the card, my company and were I sign.
I don't always use it on my sketches because they are in my sketch book where I sign it and date it for my reference.
When I sign letters and cards I always use to stamp my signature but I have become somewhat lazy and don't always do it.
The thing about using on art works is being red it stands out. In Japan and China the history of signing this way is standard but for me I sometimes wonder, do you see the artwork or the signature first ?

  7. I love clouds too! Sometimes when I'm driving, I like to pretend the clouds are a landscape with a shoreline and the surrounding sky is the sea. (This works mainly with a coloured sky and streaky clouds.)

  8. Even the way you show your utensils - there must be a better word - is artistic. It's in your blood.

  10. Oh, Parsnip ~ Try moving 4 times in 4 years. What that does to the "inventory" and one's psyche is indescribable. I literally still go looking for things I KNOW I once owned. Gone now to the ages. :~{
