3 December.

Last week we had a downpour rainstorm one night.
No lighting or thunder just a downpour.

About 2 am Agatha leaps up jumps over Truffles and Winston and lands
a few inches from my head, shaking and making a funny sound. At first I thought she was
throwing up or had another seizure. I grabbed her and covered her with my blanket.
Winston is sniffing her head and Truffles is sleeping through it all.
Turned on the TV real low and turned on a low light so it was not really dark
but still raining hard.
She started to calm down and sleep. Later she moved next to Winston and Truffles.
I assume the horder kept her outside in the pouring rain. She had a rough night.
We are still learning/finding out about our Agatha.

It is hard to see but Agatha, Winston and Truffles all curled up together.

The next day. . .

  1. Hi, Gayle!

I'm sorry to learn that you had a scare with Agatha when she apparently experienced a bout of PTSD triggered by the sound of that hard rain. It does my heart good to see her romping and playing with Winston the next morning. That picture of Winston in the foreground with your cacti and the mountain in the background is suitable for framing. Like Winston I tend to like cold, wet weather because we don't get enough of it here in Florida. Those walls, curtains and stacks of persimmon are strikingly beautiful.

I know Winston is hoping that Santa will stuff his stocking with chkikin'!

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Gayle!

  2. It does my heart good to know that Agatha found her way to you. You are absolutely the right person to take care of her, bless her paws. I love that photo of the three of them together- meant to be, eh? And I always love to see photos of your wonderful, powerful, magnificent mountains.

  4. Gayle, you are an angel taking in Agatha like you have done. She is one lucky dog after what was obviously a miserable previous life. And what a delight it is to see the three of them cuddled up together. z

  5. Dear sweet Agatha; she clearly had a difficult life prior, but is absolutely with the right pack now. Some things never leave. Pip still reacts badly to someone jingling their keys or coins in their pockets. We'll never know why. Beautiful photos. Glad you got some needed rain but sorry it upset your girl. X

  6. Poor Agatha, Miss Kitty hates thunder storms and we've had several lately. We've gotten more than 5 inches of rain since Friday.

  7. Those landscape views are amazing.

Agatha is certainly in a good spot with you, and she's got Winston and Truffles as good company too. Now you know she's not one for storms and can be ready for that.

  12. Aww, poor baby. I am not sure which gives me a bigger lump in my throat - Agatha being scared of the storm or knowing that YOU are her safe place and she can come to you for comfort.

My dear Daisy, who has now been here 6 years and has no known history, gets scared when we have rain and high wind. She will get out of her (heated!!) fleecy sleeping pod and come to stand at the edge of my bed, whining quietly. When she's told "it's OK, you can come up here" and I cover her with a throw, she settles down and sleeps solidly for the rest of the night. Ruins my sleep but I'm hardly going to tell her 'no' . . .
