Monday Monday

.
 iwinston and his chew stick.
Son took this wonderful photo.

Just before Daughter and friends left we had a lovely sushi dinner.

Japanese potato salad, nori for hand rolls, carrot and cucumber, jalapenos, avocado, sushi rice
spicy crab, salmon and shishito peppers.
The Rice Box
Friend Debbie gave this a few years ago and I finally used it.
Oh My Goodness so much fun. Much like nigiri sushi.
Just the right bite size.

Avocado and spicy crab, salmon and nori,
shishito pepper and avocado all a perfect bite.

Avocado and salmon.

Japanese Potato salad. So good and so much better than the over mayonise
type of salad.

Javelina hair. Very bristly and so beautiful.

Trader Joe's dried pear slice, a lovely heart.

I walked into my bathroom to put towels away and who had staked out a soft place to nap ?
Dragon Oliver.
The Doggie Door was for Watson and thehamish who liked to visit Son if he had his door closed.
I miss them running back and forth from my bedroom to his.
I always have my bedroom door open to the rest of the home. So they could get in that way.
They would run in circles and play tag if he had his door open.
I miss them so much they were so funny.
...

As always here is your pretty to start the week.
Amaryllis are blooming even though (because of the new addition to the side yard)
I have not been taking very good care of them.

cheers,  parsnip

  1. Hi, Gayle!

Winston looks very content chewing on his stick. I know you miss your beloved square dogs Watson and thehamish. You gave them happy lives, dear friend. Those peccary bristles are indeed beautiful. Do you use them in crafts and displays? Do you harvest them from cactus spines?

That food looks delicious! My mouth is watering so much that I am nearly drowning in my own saliva. :) I'm going to ask Mrs. Shady to prepare a Japanese sushi dinner for us.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Gayle!

  4. I was salivating over the sushi, then the hair pic. Killed my moment! Trader Joe's is my favorite store. It's clear across the city though. too far for me to go often.

    1. Sorry about the hair but it is really like bristles. You could use it like a needle.

  5. The only sushi we seem able to get over here is so boring. Yours was a different thing altogether - looks wonderful. And yet Winston was happy chewing on a stick! LOL!

What is the hair? Is it edible? Surely not. I'm obviously being naive here....

I thought the pear heart was so decorative, as were your lovely blue and white plates. This was a nice post, Parsnip. I hope you enjoy your week.

    1. No, it is very stiff and protects the animals from cactus, fights and keeps them warm. It is very beautiful.

  6. I have have amaryllis as houseplants at Christmas Gayle - I just pot up the bulbs and watch them grow. Interesting to see them grow in their natural environment.
Love the photo of Winston with his chew stick (and smiling at the same time).

    1. I don't do anything, they stay in the same pot and bloom twice a year. Sorta afraid to take care of them like the books say.

Winston is a lovely chap. Does he feel the heat with that big coat of his?

  9. I do miss having a cat. You just never know where you're going to find them and it makes me smile. Those bristles are so beautiful...a craft project in the future perhaps? Such a lovely table with beautiful dishes! Hugs to you and sweet iwinston. X

    1. He has to sit and wait to be asked in sons room. He has learned to not go in the doors without Son saying he can come in. The cats (MERIDA) do not like iwinston.

  14. Wow, what a gorgeous dinner! Those dishes look so yummy!
Oliver found a great place to hang out :-) My kitties would sit in towel cabinet like that, too. Though, ours is much smaller - they like to squeeze themselves into tight spot :-)
Love the heart shaped pear slice! Have a great week xo
