Wednesday in Japan... vending machines

Fourth on my list of favorite things about Japan are vending machines.
They are everywhere and fabulous !
You can buy anything from them from drinks, food, books, booze, clothing, bags of rice and eggs ! Plus just about anything you could think of.
Here is my favorite set of ICOA Platypus Vending Machines.
The vending machines in America are very poor substitutes.

I miss this one the most.
The Tako Ferry vending machines serving hot food.
Thanks to my Japanese Son we got to ride one last time on the Tako Ferry before
it shut down.

  2. Nice assortment you found! Hot coffee in a can - that was my favorite, fantastic while standing on a train platform in cold weather. I can't help noticing you didn't feature the cigarette machines which were ubiquitous when I was there. Have they disappeared? That would be progress.

    1. I am sure there were cigarette machines but I guess I just didn't pay attention, just never saw them. I was too busy looking at the fun ones.

  4. I like Steve Winwood. p, this was an awesome post! I love the Chikkin Nissin Cup Noodle dispenser! I recently reread portions of the Ramen King book I recommended to you. These are truly cool pictures. Really enjoyed this post. :)

  5. Oh very splendid vending machines, yes they make the English ones look pretty weedy too. I once saw a "disguise" for Japanese people of a vending machine outfit. It tickled me pink but actually it did look very similar to the ones in your photos.
