ready for my close-up...

ready for my close-up..., originally uploaded by angryparsnip.

My Monday post about what is going on around my home in Tucson, Arizona.

Another Monday post about Fred.
We have been seeing a lot of Fred lately. I am not sure why but he
likes to hang out late afternoon/early evening on my long driveway
near the street. He is usually in the shade from my west side stone
wall, just laying around enjoying the view. I don't mind seeing him
although I fear for his safety. Thank goodness I live in a quiet rural
like area in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. I have lots of
wildlife moseying by from Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Javelinas, Hawks,
Birds, and all sorts of snakes, rodents and the yucky spider things.

I think this is Fred because the other Gila Monster, Ethel has
pinkish background for the wonderful basket weave markings and
somewhere little Ricky is running around try to hiss at anything rock,
cactus or me !

  1. I love this. Very nice. I have small lizards in my backyard, but nothing as fun as Fred.

  5. What a very handsome dude.
    Buster would be most impressed.
I love all wild creatures provided they are not venomous
    like scorpions and such!

Be happy you have the small lizards... Fred is indeed beautiful but very poisonous. When they bite they clamp down on an angle and grind their teeth in to release the poison. You just can't pull them off they dig in deeper so you have to make sure to carefully pry it's mouth lose while not getting bitten yourself !

He is indeed very handsome and has been out a lot lately. May is the month they come out to play and then you never seem them till the next year. I am not sure why he was trying to clime up he just stayed there foe a long time and then was gone.

I have a book underway about the adventures of my first Scotty Kirby... The next book was to be the adventures of The Boys with the move to Tucson and the animals they came in contact with.
Unfortunately my health has gone downhill so fast that I kind of put everything on hold. I am trying to get my act together instead of being such a slug.

awwwwwwwwww, I am glad you don't mind me using his name.
I never like Lucy in the show I Love Lucy, I liked Ricky, Ethel and Fred much better.
I also have a big black Kingsnake that I have named Oswald that eats the packrats and rattlesnakes. I have had to herd him out of my fenced in yard, still can't figure how he got in, but I love him !
