Lock The Doors and .. . . . .

Self isolating, coronavirus or not, is a way of life for me.

I have several autoimmune diseases and for many years have been living with the symptoms.
This all started at age 15 and I am now 74.
It started with Valley Fever, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Hyperthyroidism and I just became a
Diabetic with Lupus on the horizon. Oh Yea Me !

Each of these have all the symptoms are what you are being told to watch out for. Valley fever
and Fibromyalgia are the worst.
My Gud Dug Watson had Valley Fever and the Vets thought he was going to die. He did get
better but was never the same. They have Meds for dogs but not for humans.

I never go out now where large groups of people are, Theater, Movies, Museums, Baseball,
Christmas crowds or Shopping centers. Travel is really fun !
I am very housebound, now more than ever.

If do go out when I come home I scrub my hands and clean my phone.
Shoes off and slippers on. I wash all my fruit and veggies soap and water especially
if grown in Mexico.
I have been doing this for so many years it is normal.
I have to be very careful not to get sick.

I am so lucky because of where I live. I have a great piece of land and a tiny but cute
back yard. Lots of trees with birds and animals all around. I get to walk outside my
home. Where I live is not very crowded so I can walk outside.
.
My life is good and I am happy.
Plus I live with Gud Dugs and Kitties !

...

.

Everyone stay safe.
cheers,  parsnip

  1. Hi, Gayle!

That tweet is a good one. A couple of days ago I went to the supermarket in the predawn hours to get supplies (not panic buying) and found the place already packed, checkout lanes backed up halfway to the rear of the store and the paper aisle nearly empty. There I encountered a teary eyed woman asking a clerk, "Don't you have any toilet paper?" He hung his head and told her that customers panic buy the tissue as soon as new supplies arrive. Perhaps we should all learn to use Brillo pads. :)

I am sorry you are plagued with illness and housebound, dear friend. Looking on the bright side, you have a beautiful home and a desert paradise right outside your door, with spectacular mountain views and clouds above to gaze at, plus many different species of flowering succulent plants and native wildlife.

I hope you and your animals have a good week, dear friend Gayle!

  2. I am so sorry to hear of all of your illnesses. Many people, unfortunately, do not realize the problems that go with autoimmune diseases. This is a temporary thing now for most of us but not for you and some others.

Our sweet Gud Dugs and Kitties keep life special for many of us don't they! I don't know what I would do without my two cats. Animals are so full of love and fun times!

That tweet is one of the funniest things I've seen yet!

Please take care and love those gud dugs for me!

  3. Sorry for your health problems but it sounds as though you have come to a steady state with managing them...I don't go out much either because of needing a hip replacement but I have children in the area who will buy groceries for me.My son lives at home, the one who just broke his back. His PT was cancelled today but he will see the ortho dr. tomorrow for the first time. Yesterday he had a CT scan. So glad you have your sweet furry friends.

  4. It has been more than a year now that I haven't been going out very much due to arthritis in my knees, first knee replacement surgery while still having severe arthritis in other knee and now recovering from knee surgery on second knee, which is getting mobility back much slower than the first one did. I thought I was going to be going out in my gardens and doing a little bit anyway this spring, and now it turns out I have developed a vision problem, a hole in my macula, which can be corrected by surgery. So now I will miss another spring of doing stuff in my flower beds until the eye heals fully. We don't normally go out to restaurants unless its for birthdays or anniversaries of our kids or us. My husband has been going for groceries since my knees got so bad, but I'm starting to feel more uneasy as more people come down with the virus, officially we have very few people with it here around our area, but who knows how many cases are completely off of the Health Department's radar because people didn't become seriously ill. I have Asthma, and diabetes, and AFIB. My daughter, who is a nurse, and I were talking about this virus today and she doesn't think that I would survive it. I don't disagree with that.
I am ok staying away from the stores and restaurants for the most part, but people who are used to constanty going out to restaurants, bars, gym, theater, movies, etc are going to have a hard time dealing with staying home.

I always enjoy seeing what your gud dogs and kitties are up to.

    1. I wondered how your knee replacements were going.
I don't go out much and now I go even less. Son moved back to live with me and Daughter moved back to be near me. Both are very helpful.

  7. I had no idea you live with so many serious illnesses! I admire you creating such a beautiful home and environment... and those pooches. You obviously know what everyone else should be doing in a situation like this. I won't whine!

  8. Such strange times we're living in right now. My office meetings, client exchanges, and all other forms of interactions are now being done at home by computer via face time and zoom programs. Son who works on Madison Avenue in NYC said it's a ghost town. Rather spooky. We live in snow country (aka: power outage land) so therefore and thankfully, we have been well stocked up long before Corona hit. But it all feels so very weird.

Wishing you and the furries peaceful days until this all goes away. The gud dugs look wonderful. Dottie sends her best too. X

  11. I'm a homebody but knowing that it's best to skip errands and people in general is strange. Husband is working from home. That makes it nice for the dogs. I still go to my workplace. Traffic is light!

Gayle, I didn't realize the extent of your health problems. I'm so sorry.

    1. I stay home more and more. Right now I am trying to catch up on three year of being a slug ! I am feeling better and hope to be a human soon.
It is hard for me to get out, I use a walker also so this is a better time to clean up and get back to a clean home, art and writing notes.
We all have problems in our life, we need to live and be happy in what we have or try to make it better.
You take care and be well.

  12. I knew you had health problems, but I didn't realise for how long you've been so plagued by them. Jeez, to think what you've managed to achieve with all that to deal with, you are an example to us all.

So glad to hear your son has moved in with you, XXX
