10 wonderful things about Truffles

Truffles our Sweetheart !

.

Sweet Truffles lost her battle with Cancer Tuesday Morning.
Wonderful Vet came to our home as Daughter made the choice to end Truffles pain.

Truffles had a horrible terrible life till she was adopted by Daughter.
For 8 years Truffles lived the life she should have and with a very waggy tail.

She came to live with me because she was having seizures and daughter
didn't want to leave her alone all day while she was at work.
. . . . .

Ten great things about Truffles.

One: was a great friend to Winston, even though he is a tank.

Two: loved being quiet and enjoying the sun.

.
Three: had the most beautiful coat.
Golden underneath with Red and black hair on top.

Four:  loved her road trips with Daughter.

Five:  had the most velvety soft ears.

Five: that beautiful tail never stopped wagging.

Six: even though she was deaf and almost completely blind she loved being outside enjoying the day.
This is my favorite photo !

Seven:  loved to sleep with me nesting her beautiful face right under my chin.

Eight: had the most beautiful tiny feet.

Nine: let us dress her up as an Ewok.

Ten:  loved her treats.
...
All of this equals = Truffles loved her Mum and her Mum adored her !
They had many great adventures.

.

This is a postcard I sent Daughter after they moved to Marquette
along the Canadian Border.
Truffles reaction the Snow Blizzards and over 6 feet of snow !
After all she was a Desert Gud Dug !
...

I miss seeing three little faces looking up at me. I miss the thundering herd
running to be let outside in the morning, I miss her dancing in circles at dinnertime
I miss everything.

cheers,  parsnip, iwinston, agatha tallulah, merida and oliver.

  4. My heart is breaking for you and your daughter today. Such a difficult decision to be made, but now wee Truffles is running free with those other little square black dugs that have gone before her. She landed butter side up and was much loved for the last eight years of her life, that's for sure, and in the end that's what really counts. My most heartfelt sympathy to you all. X

  5. I saw on John’s blog that Truffles had passed. I know how hard it is as our pets mean the world to us. It will take awhile, but your heart will heal and you will only smile when you think of her. I am so sorry for your pain.

  6. I am sorry to read about Truffles. In your pictures of her she always looked so happy to be there with her other gud dog buddies and you. In the picture where she is standing outdoors enjoying feeling the air on her face, and the freshness of being outdoors, I thought it looked like she was taking time to soak it all in so she would always remember the way she was feeling right then.

I'm glad we all got to know sweet Truffles. Thank you for sharing her with us.

  8. Gayle, I am heartbroken that Truffles lost her battle. What a gud dug she was and what a wonderful tribute this is. Although seriously ill, she enjoyed her life to the fullest and kept her spirits up. She set an example for all of us to follow. You collected many great pictures of Truffles and you will surely remember her the rest of your life. I will remember her, too.

Sending prayers to comfort you in your time of grief, dear Gayle.

  15. Sad, sorry, teary, all those things, but also so proud of you both.
To have the courage to call the vet for a home visit, to hold Truffles and gently whisper sweet-nothings of love and waggy tails whilst she gently slips away, that must truly be one of the hardest things things we ever have to do and I have met people who "cannot bear to do it" because it will cause THEM too much pain. Shame on those folk.

True love is when you put aside your own pain and you do the really difficult thing because that is the right thing for your darling four-paws. It is our job to feel stress, not theirs - that's the contract, that should always be the deal. Your Daughter did the most amazing thing giving Truffles her 'Gud dog' life, and you are amazing for being second-mummy when Truffles became ill.

    Hugging both of you. xxx

    1. I read a paper about this where the dogs were looking for their family and the vet was heartbroken for the dogs.

  16. Sending you all cyber hugs. What sweet memories and what a wonderful life you both gave her and she gave you. My heart goes out to Daughter who did a wonderful thing by adopting Truffles. I notice you have Two number 5s; it makes sense that 10 wonderful things about Truffles would actually be 11 wonderful things.

  21. Oh Gayle. I'm so, so, so sorry to read about Truffles. Saying sorry, really doesn't do anything but I am thinking of you and what you went through. It's hard to lose these wee little ones, for sure. I know that pain too. It sucks.

  25. You brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry for your loss. She was as much of a blessing to you as you were to her.

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as loving and generous as they are." [unknown author]
