Wednesday in Japan. . . 11 March 2011

Friday will be 11 March 2011 when a magnitude -9 earthquake shook
northeastern Japan, with a horrible Tsunami.
All of my family was far enough away but they all felt the earthquake
and lived with the aftereffects.
So for today just a few random photos of Japan.

The family rice bag.
It is wonderful rice.

  3. Love the pics. I was in Paris when it happened and they don't do news like we do. Just the same shot over and over with a blurb about it. I wished I could see CNN to see what was happening.

  4. Enjoyed the photos. With our daughter living in Japan I worry about earthquakes a lot. Looking forward to our trip there in September.

    1. You know I really would worry that much. I would worry more if she lived in California !
I lived in earthquakesa. Never felt on when I was in Japan. all the time when I lived in California. What bothers me are tornados and wildfires.
When you go to Japan I hope you step out and try the food. It is so fabulous. I envy your trip so much. I am too sick to fly right now.

      cheers, parsnip

  6. Great pictures! I miss those vending machines...we have vending machine here in the U.S., but it's not same :-)
When the earthquake hit Japan, my boss was in Osaka for business trip. He was in the building, on 13th floor, and he said he could feel the shaking. My family lives in north of Tokyo. I couldn't reach them for a while but they were fine. Prayers to those who are affected xo

  7. What a great wall decoration thehamish would be if printed out with different colours á la Andy Warhol.
That manhole cover is so beautiful, I could imagine that it would go 'missing' if in a more unlawful country.

    1. I wanted the manhole cover or at least a rubbing of it.
I wanted to cover a wall but knew it would drive me crazy.
      I made gift wrap instead.

    1. All family was fine, but they all had to use less electric, and family in Tokyo had to check the veggies they bought.

  9. Great photos. You have such a talent to find the beauty and art in what others take for granted. Deer bottoms and manhole covers, for example. I loved this journey.
