Square Dog Friday...Dr. Watson

Wow is it  Friday already ?
Were did the week go ? It zoomed by.
Well we all know what day this is.

Best day of the week if your a Little Square Black Dog.

Dr Watson had his check-up on Tuesday.
Dr. Maus thought he was doing great even with the liver problems.
At 15 years he is old for a Scottie, they usually live about 12/15 years.
The biggest problem is he is now completely deaf.
I have always used hand signs when training all my dogs so that is somewhat helpful
in his case. 
I still talk to him all the time, call his name and tell him he is the best gud dug ever.
Because he is !

But for me I am somewhat sad that when I call his name his ears don't perk-up 
or the best tail ever doesn't start wagging right away.
He lost his hearing over a year so I am hoping that helped with his adjustment.
When he is sleeping I made sure to gently pet him so he doesn't wake up in a start.
With his dementia I don't want to startle him.
I try keep his routine pretty much the same every day so he feels secure.
He is still very sweet, perky and loves to play tug.

Monday post about what is going on around my home in Tucson.
A quiet weekend except for 2 minutes.
Our monsoons have been strange this year, not enough storms dropping  through.
Sunday afternoon I hear booming thunder and I think some rain is possible.
No such luck just thunder and a 2 minute wind storm blew through.
Since I am up on a hill I get the wind full force.
The wind took three chimney tops/spark abatement off, I heard them being pushed back and forth on the roof. Two umbrellas wiped out a cactus, I wanted to re-pot it anyways because of pack rat damage.
Chair cushions flung about. and some tree branches here and there.
Not much damage just a lot of noise.
What I really wanted was some rain.

Being beautiful and very cute is very tiring !

Sleepy Watson just waking up.
He is now almost completely deaf and there are times with his dementia when you can see
he doesn't quite know were he is.  So I try and keep his routine pretty much the same everyday.
One sweet/sad fact:  Watson rarely barks and when he does it is for a reason. But now that he is deaf he barks more and so much louder. A big booming woof !

update..
At the end of week four, the headache have gotten so much better.
The nausea and fatigue have reduced but they are tied into other problems.
I am very relived.
I am now trying to catch up on everyone's blogs.
  

Wednesday In Japan. .. Omiyage

Just a quick look at some of the Omiyage from Japanese family and friends
sent over with visiting family.
But of course the best gift is the family being here.
. . .


Wonderful whole Awajishima onions (the best your ever will eat) pickled with some chilies.

Yummy sauces, spices and  chips,
love the bitter melon (Goya) chips.

along with cookies and crackers.

This is one of the most wonderful and at the same time saddest gifts ever.
Tombo's has closed. The most wonderful neighorhood Okonomiyaki
restaurant run by nicest family.
I will so miss having dinner there when I visit.
Son brought over one of the dishes I loved.  He could have had 12 of them
but no room in his suitcase. I am so happy to have at lest one of their dishes.

Most beautiful dish filled with fabulous memories.

It is week 4 and the all day and night headaches have gotten so much better.
The fatigue and nausea are somewhat better.

Square Dog Friday... it's about time !

The Square Dogs are back !
And it's about time.
WooHoo !
It is in their contract that I can miss one and only one, Square Dog Friday a year
 If I miss more Fridays, sanctions will be enforced.
Massive sanctions, humongous sanctions  no little slap on the hand like MLB.
They never had to deal with Scotties.  What a bunch of wussies.
Woof !
As I mentioned in my last post, the side effects new meds are making me ill.
I have a call into the doctor to find out what is going on.
So I will be posting and commenting when I can.

Now on to the news that is important !
