what happened this weekend.

Hey... I have a lot to say about last week political surprise but not today.
Instead a few photos of stuff, my everyday stuff.
So here we go YeaHaw !

So sad, Robert Vaughn died. le sigh.
What a wonderful actor.

Daughter sent us a care package from Mitsuwa Chicago.
We were spoiled living in California with the fabulous Mitsuwa (several) we shopped at.
The wonderful food courts (I so miss them) plus all my food supplies from Japan.
The Christmas gifts and New Year gifts were tasty and  beautiful.
The stores were so much fun to shop at.

 Mitsuwa shopping bag.

Mochi, spices, yuzu kosho (small green jar) umeboshi (pickled plums )

Drooling over the flyer,  umeboshi candy and cookies.

Pocky sticks. not very sweet cookies but very yummy.

Best ever pot to pour Takoyaki batter into the special pan to make octopus dumplings or balls.
Pickled mushrooms and rice spice and wonderful persimmon Furoshiki. Traditional Jappanese cloth used for wrapping gifts and food.

This is the ban that was around the pot, look at the yummy takoyaki.

Awwwwwww look at the cute tako. These are all hanging all over Osaka.
plus takoyaki  stands everywhere.  Some of the best takoyaki I ever ate was
made at a tiny stand under the Osaka tower. I really miss Osaka.

Perilla is a is a herb, spice leaf used in Japanese cooking.
We see it often on a dish with sushi on it.
I save mine and eat it after the sushi. Kind of an acquired taste but I love it.

The food and shopping flyer I drolled over all the photos.
Especially Gobo, I love it pickled.
.
Sundays Javelinas.
 Visitors at the ponds.

A few Fall babies that were too fast for me to get a photo of.

  1. Hi, Gayle!

I'm happy to know that thehamish is filled with chkikin instead of woe. :) In case you missed it on your previous post, I will again add the link to my post containing my pictures of Toto immediately following her death in 2013:

    http://shadydell.blogspot.com/2013/08/toto-1999-2013.html

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was one of my favorite TV series and I was saddened to learn of the death of Robert Vaughn. His partner, Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum) lives on as Ducky Mallard on NCIS.

I'm happy to know you've got that Lionel Richie hit stuck in your noggin. It's quite an honor knowing that I can brighten your day with one of my posts. If you discuss the election please go easy on me. I'm deep blue.

Thank you very much, dear friend Gayle!

  3. That was a nice package to receive. I love sushi, but know very little of Japanese cuisine. Anthony Bourdain just went to Japan this past week on his show.

    1. We eat so much Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai food it is getting hard for me to make American food. Son cooks Indian.

  4. You're like my daughter, she loves all things Japanese and would probably be happy if she never ate much in the way of American food.

  7. I recently saw an old Columbo episode. Robert Vaughn was the killer. He had a wonderful smug masculinity. Suddenly, I have the urge to re watch The Magnificent Seven!

  11. Good to see that both you and thehamish are well stocked up with food! How colourful all your Japanese items look, hardly any of them are familiar to me, unfortunately my experience goes no further than sushi, miso soup and sheets of seaweed!
